I am a local and I love this place. Always fun, never boring, food is great and yes, definitely try the fried clams and beer cheese soup! YUM!

“food revisited”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Visited the restaurant again because of the atmosphere and beer and proximity to Augusta.
Tried the $13 pork belly tostada appetizer special which was OK but not enough meat in the dish to warrant its $13 price. Tried the fish and chips with the beer batter which was an improvement over the panko coated version. The sweet potato fries were good although there's a $1.50 surcharge. The rest of my family ordered chicken wrap, Shepherd's pie, meatloaf, ale bird and pot roast. All dishes got high marks and there was enough food leftover to take home. everyone enjoyed the beer selection. The prices are very reasonable for dinner and everyone left satisfied with their meals.

“un-homogenized”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

The Liberal Cup is a comfortable place for typical pub food, a place where even if you've never been there it seems somehow familiar. The closest thing to the old fashioned concept of a neighborhood bar in a relatively rural setting. You definitely get the sense of community here, this place obviously has a strong local following. The food is good and the quality is consistent. Nice bar for having one of their many brews and possibly a shooter to go with it if your so inclined (ahem) It's all good here, and by the way thank you Liberal Cup for recently adding your French Onion Soup to the menu. My wife and I both thought it was excellent, please don't change it.

“Surprise”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

It looks and feels like a pub but the food was first class. It was noisy at the bar but the room in the back was very pleasant. Service was good as well.

“Good for Augusta area”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

The Liberal Cup is a Pub. I have looked for good food in the August area and this is probably one of the best. But it is just that, good for Augusta. If in any other city it would get a 3 star. But because the food choices are so poor in August it gets a 3.5 to 4 star. The food is good not exceptional. I had the meatloaf and it was nicely done for pub food. Last visit I tried the Post Roast, it was also good. It can get loud, and there is a trivia night once a week that gets really crowded. So all in all a good place for a meal, probably the best in Augusta area but not spectacular.
