“One of the best B&Bs!”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

My wife and I stayed at this B&B while visiting the area for a moose safari. We stayed 2 nights and it was like staying with old friends.

This is a beautiful inn and our room was comfortable and spacious with a great shower.

We enjoyed a welcoming glass of wine on our first night and the hosts Harland and Isobel could not have been nicer.

For breakfast, they offered wonderful scones and a wonderful choice of breakfast items..

There is not much in Guilford itself, but this inn is an excellent choice if you are in the Moosehead Lake area.

Room Tip: Room 3 was spacious and comfortable with a great shower.

Four of us were traveling from Cape Cod to Abott, ME to pick-up a tractor to deliver to our property in Newfane, VT. With a little Googling we discovered the Guilford B&B and decided this would be a comfortable place after a long day's drive. Our friends were traveling ahead of us and by the time we arrived they were in house slippers, feet propped up by the fire place and enjoying conversation with our host's Isobel & Harland. The rooms were unique, immaculate and well appointed, the beds were plush and comfortable and they even had electric blankets for those cold Maine evenings. After a wonderful night sleep we woke to the smell of fresh baking and hot coffee. Isobel & Harland prepared a wonderful breakfast of homemade scones (Isobel is very Scottish!) with our choice of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes or french toast. All prepared to each guest's perfection.

We only had one night to spend at this amazing place with these wonderful hosts, but we are already planning a reason to return. Guilford B&B is one of those rare places which encompasses all those images and experiences of what a B&B should be like. They definitely earned 5 stars from us.

Room Tip: The Cummings Suite is amazing and an unbelievable bargain. The Rose room is just as comfortable and s...

My wife and i spent a week touring maine and we wanted to see moose head lake. Instead of paying the pricier fees for a room near the lake we stayed at the Guilford B&B. The house is perfect and the owners are extremely friendly and made my wife and me feel like family. The room we stayed in was comfortable and spacious. We were treated to a welcome glass of wine and after dinner in town we came back and sat in their family room with a beautiful fire in the fireplace and watched a movie on the VCR. Our breakfast the next morning was made to order and the scones were fresh, warm and delicious. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist locations and truly relax, this is the place for you.

Guilford is a typical Maine mill town.....not much happening there; EXCEPT this wonderful home away from home. We totally stumbled upon this B & B by happenstance when the entire town of Greenville (our true destination point) was sold out of lodging choices during "Fly-in Weekend". This twist of fate turned out to be such a gift. Isobel and Harland's home and hospitality were just perfect. Breakfast every morning: amazing! Do request Isobel's apricot scones. The wrap around porch was too hard to resist partaking in a late afternoon read. Their attention to detail was incredible; right down to a candy dish full of M & M's to watch the Patriot's season kick-off game. Isobel's dinner recommendations were spot-on too! The Lakeshore House in Monson is a uniquely pleasant restaurant/laundromat/pub/musical entertainment haven located right on the shore of Lake Hebron. I don't know anywhere else that one could dine on one of the best reuben's ever tasted, watching an amazing sunset while listening to the interesting music of a spoon player/singer/accordion duo. No doubt when returning to the Greenville area in the future we will stay at The Guilford B & B again. Only detraction: teeny tiny shower stall in a teeny tiny bathroom.

Room Tip: If you enjoy morning light The Rose Room is the way to go.

On a return trip from Nova Scotia to Toronto, I wanted to try a different route this year. Going through Guilford became a part of the trip. Accommodations are limited in the area so I chose this B&B. No regrets. Isobel and Harland were very welcoming and provided great service. The building has so much to see, is very clean and inviting. The room was great ... crisp linens, soft towels and excellent water pressure (it's the little things that matter!). I would definitely stay there again.

I noticed a 'for sale' sign as I was leaving .... I don't know what that's about but I sure hope it goes to some great owners and innkeepers.
