My husband has been to Maine many times and loves the state. So, I had to come and see it for myself. I would move there in a minute. The people are very gracious and friendly. Kineo View is and will be my choice of lodging for my next trip back. The owners, George and Diane and there staff were down to earth and made our stay very pleasant. The accomodations were perfect. Very clean, quiet and out of the way from town and the view from our balcony just took my breathe away!!! THANK YOU to all the folks of Maine who made our stay a memorable one.

Kineo View is a solid, basic, clean, well-kept motel. It is not a luxury hotel. It is reasonably priced, has hot coffee and toast/bagels/etc. at breakfast, and has a friendly staff. It's a perfect place to stay for a stopover or a vew nights near Moosehead. If you're in the area to enjoy the outdoors, you won't be spending much time lounging around your hotel anyway!

The views are GREAT!

We spent a Friday night here because both Birch Point Cabins were booked that night and I had read decent reviews. The location is up a gravel road, but it isn't bad. The staff were pleasant and we took the last room available. Unfortunately, we had a downstairs location and the people above us stomped around alot. It is hard to believe that people can move around so much in such a small space. The space under the door along with privacy glass next to the door allowed the outside porch light to shine in all night. The cable TV had just a few channels and since Greenville isn't a lively place late at night, you don't have too many entertainment choices. Breakfast the next morning consisted of cold cereal, muffins, and coffee. On the upside, the balcony view from the room is very pretty. For the price, we felt that the lodge didn't offer much.

This was absolutely the best lodging we had during our stay in Maine. From the location ( a dirt road half a mile back from the main road), to the views of the mountain from your own personal balcony, to the reasonable rates, to the nice over-sized room, this lodge was the perfect blend of economy and luxury. The only drawback would be if you wanted an upstairs room, and were handicapped or elderly, suitcases would be hard to move upstairs. The owners are very helpful; breakfast room is superb; all kinds of books in the breakfast room are available to supplement your interests and vacation needs. George? the owner, gave me extra information on the turn of the century lodge that was once located right in the middle of Moosehead Lake. Definitely would stay again.

We stayed for three nights ( Sept 1, 2, and 3) at the Kineo in Room 6 which is a corner room with a comfortable king sized bed. Absolutely beautiful views! We found the room to be spacious ,very clean and well appointed with a microwave and fridge. The owners George and Diane are simply the best at what they do. They are very informative about the area. They offer a pamphlet on area hiking trails and can tell you about evey trail from their own personal hiking experiences. Anything you want to know from dining to moose watching they can help you out! The great continental breakfast is served in a nice , comfortable room downstairs. Try the homeade muffins!!! We met a couple who were in the Overlook Suite and they were nice enough to let us have a peak at these gorgeous accomodations. Great luxury at a fantastic price. They do allow dogs in certain rooms which is a plus to those of us who want to travel with our pets. We did not take our dogs on this occasion but several responsible pet owners had dogs there and we did not hear a peep!! Check out the gift shop. Lots of nice goodies there!! Thanks so much George and Diane and Family!!!

We stayed here for two nights on a recent trip. The location is 3miles from town with nice balcony view overlooking the lakes and mountains .
I did not like the long dirt and gravel, dusty driveway to get to the Lodge. If you stay here pick the 2nd floor(you need to be strong to drag your suitcase up).We stayed on the 1st floor and the second night someone moved into the second floor and you could hear them walking back and forth in the evening and very early in the morning. The continental breakfast was fine, toasted my bagels and very good coffee.Their gift shop has decent prices.

The view is essentially the same from all rooms. We stayed in room 12 on the top/second floor on the end, and we got a little more view. It is *outstanding*. I could sit on the balcony/deck (outside all rooms) all day long. The continental breakfast is excellent - no hot food. Cereals, bagels, muffins, english muffins, toast, jams, butter, milk, juice, coffee, very nice. The owner(s) are very nice and love to help you out. They told us where to find the moose - and sure enough, we did. Room had a microwave and large mini fridge, and a large floor fan which was nice for circulating the mountain breezes. We got t.v. dinners at the grocery store just down the road, and had an inexpensive dinner. Very nice. They also have a cute gift shop with lots of good moose stuff.
