Gem of a place, well run like AMC can do, delicious healthy meals, cozy cabin, great hikes. Green Drake was our residence, close to bathroom, lodge and sleeps four- bunk and a d/q, wood stove, wood, kerosine lamps, sink in the cabin.

We just finished up a week at Little Lyford as part of a group of 8 friends, all around 60 years old and active. Little Lyford Lodge is a bit remote, but beautiful and nicely equipped. We spent every day mostly hiking various trails in the area, mixed with canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Hiking can range from easy to adventurous. There's a few trails right from the lodge but expect to drive the gravel roads to most trailheads. This is a "wilderness lodge", which is not quite as primitive as it sounds. No electricity in the cabins, but propane lamps and running cold water. The "spa" building includes composting toilets, hot showers, and a sauna. The Lodge itself is very nice, friendly staff, and the meals were very good, sometimes excellent. An excellent base of operations for activities.

A group of 8 most over 60 had a wonderful time hiking, climbing, eating, fishing and getting away from the Internet. Anything Noah cooked was out of this world yummy. We drive to some homes and others originated from the sites. Much to do and see. A great time was had by all.

very clean
very friendly staff
very good food in large quantities
bring your hiking shoes, mountain bike and fly rod...so much to do
ask advice from the staff...they know!!! our stay was too short, there were others who were there a week...don't think that you will be going to Greenville much---it is a long drive

Room tip: pet friendly cabins are just that...pet friendly...trail access out back door

Little Lyford was a great experience! The food was wonderful, the staff were kind and responsible, and the cabins were clean and comfortable. Kerosene lamps are provided in all cabins, work well, and provide some warmth. There is potable, running water as well. The bathhouse is clean and showers are nice. We found the outhouse behind our cabin to be clean and not smelly. We stayed in White Wulff, a dog friendly cabin towards the end of the row, and we were very happy with this location. We enjoyed the wood stove in the cooler mornings. There is an outdoor fire pit, which we used to roast marshmallows our first night. Screw Auger falls is not to be missed, wear your swim suit so you can swim in the waterfall at the bottom. The AMC Gorman Chairback camp is a beautiful spot to visit to canoe, walk the trails, or relax with a book. We brought our bikes and didn't use them. We are a family of two adults and one nine and a half year old, and these are the hikes we did and enjoyed:
portions of Gulf Hagas (one day started at trail head and went as far as Billings Falls, another day started at other end and went to Screw Auger Falls), Laurie's Ledge Trail, Hermit's Point (short but beautiful and worthwhile walk at Gorman), Little Wilson Falls, and enjoyed the trails around Little Lyford.
We loved this trip and look forward to returning!
