My fiancé and I spent two nights at the George Perley House. Originally, we wanted to stay in Portland, ME, but lodging is more expensive there. Portland is only 25 minutes away from Gray and we took the local roads, so it is not a bad drive at all. The location is also close to Bradbury Mountain State Park and Sebago Lake, which has a nice beach. The house is clean and very comfortable. We stayed in a room with a hallway bathroom, but they also have a suite upstairs with a private bathroom and a kitchenette. They had organic soap and shampoo in the bathroom for us, which we appreciated a lot. The upstairs living room is very comfortable and there is a nice library. Doreen and Cole are friendly and attentive hosts. They served delicious Belgian waffles, French toasts, bacon, sausages and fruit cups in the morning. Unlike some bed and breakfast, in the George Perley house, you will feel like you are a friend of the family, and not a just a random guest.

My husband and I like to stay at B&Bs but we do not like a lot of traffic. We were visiting a part of Maine we had not seen much of so we decided to stay at this B&B , versus staying in Freeport, and we could not have been happier. It is about a 25 minute drive from Freeport, tucked away in Gray, Maine on a deadend country road. The owners, Doreen and Cole, were cordial, helpful and attentive and are just plain nice. Their family lives nearby, so the place had family visitors occasionally. We had plenty of privacy using the suite, which has a kitchenette, whirlpool bath and queensize bed. There is a cable tv and small table for dining plus a small library and 2 living room chairs. The place is what many would call "out of the way", but it was easy to find with the directions on the website. We would recommend bringing a gps with your car so that you can get around to the area attractions without getting lost. The owners made a great breakfast and took into account that my husband is diabetic,. We would just suggest that if you are diabetic to also bring some of your favorite low carb foods for the minifridge in the kitchenette. We did and we were able to put together picnic sandwiches for hiking at nearby Bradbury Mountain state park. The nice thing about this B&B is that it is very quiet and comfortable and a great value. The place is decorated in an early American style and the owners have done a very good job of maintaining that atmosphere. There are only three B&B bedrooms (one of which is the suite) and you must be able to climb stairs to them, so keep that in mind. The owners are warm and good conversationalists. The place is also near the PineHills Farm, which has hiking trails, organic foods and their own cheeses and a equestrian school, as well. There are other attractions in the area, such as the Maine Wildlife Park and a great restaurant in Yarmouth. Location of the B&B for us, was fine. We will be back.
