We only spent a few hours here. We walked the beaches and enjoyed the coastal views. This would have also been a great place for a picnic.

Reid State Park has a beautiful setting In Georgetown, Maine at the tip of the peninsula. It was our first visit there; Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day. It was quiet with no bugs and the weather was beautiful, which certainly helped. We walked the beach and view points at both ends of the beach. The water was a balmy 49 degrees ! There is a very nice tidal pool where several families were splashing around as the tide came in. You can see two lighthouses from the beach as well. We talked to one of the grounds keepers who was a lifeguard last year. As expected, he discussed the strong undertoe and occasional rip tides at this location due to the incline of the beach. It gets very busy here in the summer.

Went in grey weather, but had fun just watching the waves crash onto the rocks, exploring the rocky beach looking for mica, etc. A beautiful spot recommended to us by a friend. Would love to go back in nicer weather!

Reid State Park lies on the Eastern bank of the outlet of Kennebec River and consists of several miles of beautiful sandy beaches, rocky escarpments, and back beach estuary environments with many birds (including the critically threatened piping plovers whose nesting sites are protected). In the last year a new beach house with excellent bathrooms has been erected. This beach and Popham Beach on the Western outlet to the Kennebec are both premier places that exemplify Maine at its best. Five Islands is a small marina and restaurant outside of the park that offers excellent seafood in season as well as views of the Sheepscot River.
