We go to the Oxford house occasionally for special occasions; it is expensive but we feel, worth it. Our meal this week (July 2012) was no exception. Because we are seniors and cannot eat huge quantities, we skipped a tempting cold beet soup. We could not resist the Cucumber Mojito and a pear and ginger Margarita, both of which were refreshing and delicious. The Margarita came with a generous slice of sugared ginger skewered into a lime wedge, which I nibbled on as I drank. I ordered the special of the night which was swordfish, cooked succulently and the most wonderful salad of crab, roasted corn and avocado, and yucca fried like french fries that are to die for! I'd like to learn to make both of these. Since there was a party in the porch room which overlooks the valley with its lovely view, we ate in the fireplace room, and decided to have after-dinner drinks on the Adirondack chairs on the back lawn to watch the sunset. My companion had the fascinating "44 cordial", incubated over 44 days with rum, an orange, 44 spoonfuls of sugar and 44 coffee beans, and I had a glass of delicious ice wine, perfect end to a special meal. Thanks, Jonathan, we'll be back!
We feel this is the only truly excellent restaurant in the area now. The service was perfect but not obsequious.
