The only problem we had was the construction, which we were unaware of upon booking. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was not the best quality, but offered alot considering it was continental.

Hello and Thank You for posting your thoughts on Trip Advisor. I do apologize that you were not contacted prior to arrival concerning the renovations. You should have recieved a phone call or been given notification at the time you made the reservation. I sincerely hope that the condition of the hotel was not too much of a surprise and didn't hinder you enjoying the weekend. We look forward to seeing you again, perhaps after our renovations are complete. Until then, Happy Travels - Angela D'Amours, General Manager, Hampton Inn, Freeport, ME

We were able to compare the Hampton Inn to two other hotels in the Freeport area because of functions we attended during our February 2013 visit. While the Hampton Inn is not glamorous in comparison, does not have spacious and well-appointed public areas and you have to get in the car to access the downtown Freeport action, it still has a lot going for it. First of all, the employees were friendly and helpful. A hotel worker with a laundry cart refrained from taking up space in the elevator until those of us waiting entered. Other staff greeted us in the hallways and breakfast room.

It would be easy to dump on this property now while it has renovations going on. Because of the renovations, they're using former rooms on the ground floor as serving and dining areas, so you might find yourself at table next to headboard attached to the wall. But you'll still be glad that breakfast is included. I'm sure when the renovations are complete, it will be a better experience. Other than the breakfast issue, which really wasn't much of an issue, the renovations didn't intrude on our stay.

The rest of the rooms that aren't being used for dining rooms are as clean and comfortable as any other Hampton Inn I've stayed at, which is to say, very clean and comfortable. Our room was bigger than a comparable room we saw at another property. The building is set up from the road and is far enough from the highway so that road noise isn't intrusive. When you go to the pool (which is good sized and not just a lap pool) and find that it's nearly as warm as a hot tub, you'll be glad you chose the Hampton Inn. What it may lack in glitz, it makes up for in cleanliness, friendliness and value.

Having traveled to Freeport several times recently I have stayed at this hotel. I have just showed up without a reservation and received excellent service from the front desk. They are friendly, helpful, and genuine. The price was surprisingly low despite it being in a vacation/shopping destination, and the complementary breakfast is perfect to start the day. I am already planning a trip back soon.

Staff is extremely helpful. Hotel was in the process of renovations and the staff made what could have been a real inconvenience into an enjoyable stay non the less. Check in and out was an easy process and the staff was very helpful in suggesting places in the area to visit.

Close to downtown, but just far enough away. Great, accomodating staff and fresh, clean rooms. My hotel of choice when traveling for work. The breakfast items are usually always the same, but does the trick when you need to be out the door in the morning. I always welcome the smell of the just baked cookies upon arrival. Looking forward to seeing their updates to the Lobby and Breakfast room on my next trip up.

Room Tip: Corner and end rooms are the most quiet.

We just spent 4 days at this hotel and it was a great experience. The hotel itself is not a 5 star hotel but the people there make you feel welcome no matter what and that made our trip. We were 4 families in 4 rooms with many young children running around and making noise. The staff always accommodated our requests with a smile. Nate and Sarah at the front desk were very helpful with local information and directions. We forgot 2 jackets there and Nate was a great help in finding them and shipping them back to us.

As for the hotel, it was clean and comfortable with all the little amenities you come to expect from this level of lodging. The breakfast was a little cramped but that was only due to the renovation. I would expect things to be even better after the reno is done.

Happy New Year and THANK YOU for your kind comments! Yes, our renovations should be done within a few weeks, and will afford us better use of our lobby and breakfast areas. I hope you and your family come back to see all the improvements we are working on. School vacation week is always a very festive time for us here at the hotel, and I recall some of the team members commenting how much they liked seeing your little ones enjoy the new snow. Perhaps we will see you next school vacation? Until then, Happy Travels - Angela D'Amours, General Manager, Hampton Inn Freeport, ME
