A fabulous stay that included wonderful accommodations, great food and phenomenal hospitality.
The owners advised us were to shop, travel, tour and dine. They provided maps and first hand knowledge of surrounding exploring opportunities. They also advised us of an alternate scenic route to our next destination that was breath taking. The Nicholson Inn Owners, Jane and Alden, definitely have a lot to offer and will provide you with hospitality at a great value.

We returned to the Nicholson Inn again this past weekend (September 20/21. 2013).
Jane and Alden are wonderfully gracious hosts and we had a lovely time.
We highly recommend this B & B (breakfasts are delicious) and the folks that stay at the Nicholson Inn are always friendly and kind.
We loved it and next time we stay in Freeport we will be back!

What a quaint house! We went for 2 nights and felt like we were at home. The location is perfect for Freeport shopping, restaurants, coffee and LL Bean. For us, the trip was to simply get away and make some memories.
Jane and Alden were a pleasure as hosts and if you are ever up around the Freeport way, make sure to spend a night or two at Nicholson Inn.
I'd recommend the 3rd floor room because it was nice and quiet and you felt away from everything but I'm sure if I stayed in a different room I'd probably recommend that room too.
I really enjoyed the conversations at breakfast with the other guests we ran into.

We can't just give you another typical Bed & Breakfast review because this just isn't a typical place. Surfice it to say Alden and Jane are in business twenty years now and they've got it down pat and they do it right! However we believe the following story will tell you all you need to know about this fabulous Inn....We came into town late and unexpected. After checking in we went out for an evening stroll, had dinner at the tavern and then shopping. A severe thunderstorm had us trapped at L.L. Bean. Jane noticed we had not returned to her home and instead of going to bed she came out in the storm at 11:30PM to search the town and rescue us by car. Some experiences in life go beyond the normal review like this unsolicited act of kindness that tells you all about the owners of Nicholson Inn. This is an example of the type of attention and care they put into their fine establishment and why we rate it a 5 star B&B with 10 star hosts. Unite the quality of these Innkeepers with their charming home and the result makes this a treasure found in Freeport Maine!

We only stayed here one night but thoroughly enjoyed it. The Inn is convenient to town and Jane and Alden were welcoming as well as the lab, Nick. Alden gave us great advice as we drove up the coast to St John NB. We can't wait to see the countryside on the return trip as he shared some favorite routes with us. We would definitely stay there again.

We spent 2 perfect nights at Nicholson Inn. The location is the best in Freeport, so easy to walk to LL Bean and all the other stores, just leave the car at the Inn. Breakfast was such a delicious surprise each morning, Alden is such a great cook, mmm delicious. Jane is a wonderful hostess with great local knowledge of the area and its history. Our rooms were full of New England charm and very comfortable, our son wanted to bring the pillows home! Lovely fluffy towels and the sheets were crisp cotton perfect for good night sleep. The central air conditioning was welcome in the evenings due to the high humidity of the season. Lovely sitting in the rocking chairs on the front verandah before venturing out for dinner. There is a guest fridge for you to keep drinks etc, very convenient.

Room Tip: Having had 3 rooms they were all lovely & well equipped .

This is my family's fourth year staying at the Nicholson Inn. It began as a convenient stop on our way to other Maine destinations, but it has turned into a highlight of our trip! The rooms are lovely, always comfortable and extremely well-cared for. The decor is very tasteful and loaded with interesting family history if you ask Jane or Alden. The grounds are stunning, a testament to the hard work of the owners. And breakfast is amazing! Always! We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the inn keepers. Alden has more knowledge of Maine and how to "get there from here" than any map ever printed. And Jane is as wonderful and real as it gets. To top it off, Nick the black lab, gives hugs upon departure. We have every intention of spending more time at this home away from home. Let's hope this year is the one that gets us there more than once! We highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Stayed in four out of five rooms and have been happy with each. Even those on the main street are qu...
