We discovered the Corsican while doing a rare shopping day in Freeport. Although it was on a side street, away from the main shopping area, it was only a one minute walk from LL Bean.

I had a delicious bowl of fish chowder (clam and haddock). It was full-bodied with plenty of clams and fish. Unlike many other places, the Corsican’s chowders were pork-free. My chowder came with a homemade dill roll. These rolls were so unique that we brought back a half-dozen with us for later! If we could have brought home chowder on the plane, we would have done that too.

My other half had a bowl of their Mediterranean seafood stew with garlic bread. It was very tasty and robust. Beyond the copious amount of seafood, tomatoes, and vegetables, the fennel and other seasonings made it quite a treat. It was so good!

The Corsican was comfortable and pleasant, and their staff was friendly too. We felt that great care went into everything made at the Corsican. If you live nearby or are just visiting, we highly recommend visiting the Corsican.

We caught them on the last service before their break, and still the service was fine, the food terrific. The pizza remains one of their best options, though we all loved our choices of soup and chowder.

My wife and I reside in Freeport and regularly go to the Corsican. The food is always reliably very good to excellent and the prices and reasonable - $5 full glasses of wine! The meatballs are fabulous, the service friendly, and the food an excellent value for the $. We have many excellent restaurants to choose from in Freeport and neighboring Brunswick, but probably eat at the Corsican more than any other due to the $/quality value.
