Description: Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

“Great Beer! Great bar food! Wonderful Atmosphere!”
Reviewed May 1, 2014 via mobile

This is a beer joint. The beer is great along with knowledgeable and friendly service. The food is Very Good bar food. Surprisingly they are well equipped for family dining with an outdoor play area, large deck, and a very good kids menu. Friday afternoons is a great family day.

“If only the beer and food were as good as the service”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Service was excellent - fast, friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the beer and the food were not. The beer was too sweet, it lacked the slightly bitter after taste promised. I ordered a soup and sandwich. The soup lacked a distinctive taste and texture, and was served barely warm. If I hadn't ordered the sandwich I wouldn't have known what was in it. My wife's "build your own burger" was served medium-rare not medium-well done as requested, and was decidedly overpriced for what it was.

“A local hangout but they treat out of towners well.”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

We stopped here for lunch on the advice of some locals. Great filling meal. Its a true local pub and as a regular you can keep your own mug there!

Great local flavor. Great service, great pub food.
Not a 5 star white linnen place but great pub food.

“expected more”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

We were hungry as we drove into town and this was the first pub we ran into so we stopped. Gritty's has a good reputation online but frankly we felt that the beer was sub par and the food worse. Disappointing to "waste" a meal in an area with lots of better choices.

“Great Staff & Food!”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

First time in this brew pub. The staff did a great job with hall of our special requests and the food was great! We all left there with no room for desert (and probably should have taken some food home in a "to go" box)! Our server had a great sense of humor as well. We will definitely eat here again.
