“Excellent as usual”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Just a quick review since I've reviewed this restaurant before. As on all our previous visits the service was outstanding and the food was wonderful. Yummy, generous portions. We had Thai Iced Tea, Spring Rolls with Shrimp, and Pad Thai with Roast Duck. The owner actually came to our table when I asked what was in the Spring Rolls beside the obvious cabbage and carrots. Always a great place to stop for lunch.

“consistently good in informal setting”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

We've been coming here for many yrs and only recall being satisfied. Love the Katong tongs for app. Good variety on menu. Staff is always pleasant. Recent visit we waited quite a while for our food due to dining room almost full and kitchen also busy filling take-out orders; we've not had this wait during any of our previous visits.

“The reason why local Maine chefs have chosen Thai Garden as a place to frequent”
Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We first learned of Thai Garden Restaurant in Freeport after reading an article in DownEast magazine some time ago in which it was named as one of the 10 or so Maine restaurants to which Maine chefs of reknown regularly frequent for a good meal. We've eaten here on a number of occassions and recently stopped for dinner on our way home from PWM. As usual, we were not disappointed in either the quality of the meal, the attentive waitstaff, and the reasonable prices for the meals.

My wife ordered Chicken Pad Thai, a favorite, which was served piping hot with some of the "freshest" bean sprouts she's had in quite some time and just enough saucing to keep the flavors of all ingredients on the palate. The chicken was cooked properly; juicy and not like rubber that often is the case when small pieces are stir fried. I ordered the Pad Seuw with pork. Once again, the saucing was just enough to enhance the dish, the noodles cooked to the proper consistency but, in the case of this evening, the pork was overcooked and tough.

Thai Garden is about a 5 minute drive South of Freeport's shopping center proper. The extra few minutes in your car is well worth the time it takes to move beyond the more touristy eateries in the downtown area, proper. If the pork had not been over cooked, our ranking of the restaurant would be higher. Not every restaurant performs equally every night. We consider our last experience as one of those off nights for the pork, but one of the on nights for the chicken.

“Not a bad find”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Food was very good, not spectacular, but considering this is Maine I was impressed. The staff was cheerful and helpful and the food was made fresh. If you are looking for something spicy, make sure to indicate this, as most dishes were toned down. A great little find in Freeport.

“Not bad, not great”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

Had dinner here while on a shopping trip to Freeport. Food was serviceable but nothing to write home about. The "special" which was supposed to be a spicy dish was not. pad Thai was good, as was the ice cream.
