This is truly the place to go if you're looking for a simple meal made with high quality local ingredients!! I've been numerous times and I've never had a bad meal! Most recently I tried the "The Natural" salad topped with roast beef...amazing!! Highly recommend stopping in!

We were in Town looking for a light lunch and were pointed to the in house restaurant of LL Bean. The food is of really good quality although not cheap and service was not as good as in the rest of the store however, it is worth recommending for light lunchtime stop.

OK, so you are in Freeport for, what else, a visit to LL Bean. Time for lunch. Lots of options. But, if you are in LL Bean (or even if you are not), the 1912 Cafe (right inside the main retail store between the clothes and the sporting equipment) would be a good choice.

We tried two salads and a soup. The soup is claimed to be home made and it had that style. It was clam chowder and will litterally loaded with clams, nice tender pieces. It was appropriately salty, with potatoes and a bit of corn. It was not the thick and creamy kind. The thickness came from all that was included. Very good indeed. Two of us shared a bowl.

We had two salads, the Natural and the Mediteranian. The Natural had several types of greens, very tender and delicious carmelized onions (actually not all that much carmel, but very tender and sweet), goat cheese. Very very good. The other had a more limited variety fo greens, olives, sun dried tomatoe, etc. We judged it to be OK, but not in the league of the Natural. These salads are substantial in size. We managed the soup and the two salads, but we could have been satisfied with the soup and just one of the two.

In any event, this is a very nice little spot in LL Bean to grab lunch. We were there close to 1:30 PM, were second in line and had no trouble getting a seat at a table. Outside seating is available.

NIce cafe in LL Bean. A bit on the expensive side, but the menu is good, and the ice tea is most refreshing!

An excellent sandwich, salad and snack shop in Freeport, Maine – part of the L. L. Bean retail complex tucked between its flagship store and its hunting and fishing store. Amazingly, as of this writing, it was not reviewed even though it’s the obvious choice when shopping at L.L. Bean (even the local McDonalds had 4 reviews). The menu selection, service and pricing were all great – everything was high quality and tasty. Three generations feasted outside on their huge plaza (near L.L. Bean’s giant climb on hunting boot) enjoying Black Watch sandwiches (Angus pastrami with caramelized onions and Swiss on rye), a nuts and berries salad (almost too beautiful to eat), a flavorful turkey and veggie wrap, flatbread pizza with bacon and onions (unique and delicious), barbequed pulled pork sandwiches and pasta bowls with parmesan cheese. Locally bottled root beer and Maine blueberry sodas were delicious also. If you want to save both time and walking while visiting L.L. Bean, this is the perfect place to eat.
