“disappointing”
Reviewed August 13, 2007

We expected more from this flagship store. It didn't even carry all the items you can find in the catalog. It was warm inside, making shopping a little uncomfortable, and the sales people were hard to find - overall, it was very disappointing. And forget about the outlet store - it's tiny with nothing but "returns." Just order what you want from the catalog!

“Great Service.”
Reviewed July 5, 2007

This was 1 of the shopping destinations for my wife, The last week of June. We all enjoyed it. We like the quality of their merchandise & have ordered many times from the catalogue. But the store was really something to see. When used her LL Bean credit card at the store, received double points. The service at this store is fantastic. Any questions, just ask anybody who works there & they will stay with you in the nicest way until answered. And this is at any time, since the store is open 24 hrs.
Had to make a couple trips to this store to get everything we wanted. Worth it.

“The Store That Thinks It's A Thrill Ride”
Reviewed July 22, 2003

There's a guidebook that says that if Freeport were a shopping mall, L.L. Bean would be the anchor store. Well, how about another analogy?
If Freeport were an amusement park, L.L. Bean would be the biggest, best ride in town. It's almost a shock that they don't charge admission to get into the place. People don't just go into this store to shop; they go there for the thrill of it all. Where else can you find a store with a trout pond? A giant Maine boot? A boulder to test out your new hiking shoes? A life-size moose? (Okay, the moose is stuffed, but still, this is as close as most people will ever get to a moose). This is a place where you can learn to flyfish or paddle a kayak or pitch a tent. The personnel are not only friendly, they're downright eager to help, whether you're trying on a pair of bedroom slippers or shopping for a canoe. There's even a coffee bar and on-site travel agency. And with a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Parlor a few steps outside the door, you cannot go wrong here. Sure you can outfit the whole family for just about every outdoor activity imaginable, but the store ITSELF constitutes part of that adventure. Even if you're not a shopper, no visit to midcoast Maine should be considered complete without a stop at this store just for the experience.

“A great store”
Reviewed October 31, 2001

The last time we visited L.L.Bean was to have a pair of hiking shoes repaired. My son loved those worn out boots and we thought L.L.Beans would know how to sew up Gor-Tex lined boots.
We went to customer service and told them our problem and could they help us. They asked us if we had a recite, we said no, the boots were bought about 12 years ago from L.L.Bean but we were asking for a repair we would gladly pay for.
The service agent told us the boots were too far gone to repair, she confirmed they were bought at the store by some number on the boot and told us to go to the boot sales department and pick out a new pair without any charge to us.
where else can you get that kind of customer service?
L.L.Bean is a great store to see any hour of the day and there goods are top notch and there employees are all the best examples of real Maine folk.
