LL bean was there first with the success system: guarantee your products, sell only the best grade, open 24 hours a day, diversify the product line as sports changed over the years. Bass Pro has gone to school as has the other top competitors; however, there just doesn't seem to be anything better than the brand :LL Bean. The main store in Freeport, Maine is as much of a tourist attraction as Arcadia National Park and believe me i have stopped at that store on my way from the airport at 12:00 pm and it is busy. It is a treat just to walk around the spacious store and see the product line. Many Maine products are featured as well.

What do you need to say. Well let's start with this.

It's a great way to kill a few hours if the weather isn't great outside. Nice stuff, and most of it, at a good price.

The area has a ton to offer, from shops, to eateries, coffee shops and more.

And seeing they NEVER close, you know you can walk around anytime you are having a hard time sleeping, and yes, if you are lucky, you might see someone famous shopping.

My wife and I made our second visit to LL Bean at the end of October (the Fall rush was over). We arrived into Freeport at about 1:00am and headed straight to LL Bean. We were absolutely the only customers in the entire store (this is what the sales clerk told us) and it was a blast. They offered us coffee or tea and we shopped around for about one hour before heading to our hotel.

The staff was helpful and friendly and they were all very busy stocking and restocking. The music was playing and the coffee was fresh. What a fun experience!

I had first gone to the LL Bean Factory Store in the early 80's. I was in my early teens and it was somewhat interesting and I remember the store being small and really not very interesting. Times have certainly changed. The whole Freeport area has blown up around the LL Bean store and has lots of things for people to do. The LL Bean Factory Store is open 24 hours a day, while the outlet store nearby is not. The Factory Store is spread out amongst numerous buildings, all showcasing LL Bean's products. If you like LL Bean, then this is a trip you need to take. Be sure to bring plenty of money too, they aren't giving the stuff away.

Checked out LL Bean at Christmas and loved the many Christmas lights and trees on the grounds outside. Between the main store and the home store near the big boot, we saw an amazing Christmas tree light show synchronized to holiday music. Notice the absence of door locks going in since Bean never closes. In the stores, there is clothing, housewares and accessories of all kinds. The pond stocked with fish was appropriate in the outdoor gear section. Although the prices are a bit more, the quality and service is very good. I was able to trade in an older worn out LL Bean jacket for full price credit on a new one. This place is worth checking out.
