We took a trip out to Freeport from California for the turning foliage and of course the lobsters! We chose the Casco Bay Inn on Hotels.com for the reasonable price and the 4.0 rating on Trip Advisor. The motel is clean, comfortable but a little old.

On the flip side the staff was so rude that it made staying there downright uncomfortable. The breakfast lady got upset at us and snatched the milk pitcher away after we filled up our son's milk cup for breakfast. In additon, we are huge dog lovers. The front desk person was extremely rude when we inquired about the name of her old golden retriever sleeping under the counter. When we asked her what her dog's name was she snapped back at us and said "Her name is Sadie and she's not always friendly!". That was quite an odd statement as I have never met a mean Golden Retriever in my life. This definately made us feel unwelcomed.

So that I'm not accusing the entire staff of being rude, the house keeping lady was very nice and greeted us with a warm smile.

If you are looking for a clean cheap place to stay Casco Bay Inn would be ideal. If you are looking for a friendly polite staff to go along with your stay I suggest you book somewhere else.

What an awesome hotel for a great price! Just a few miles out of Portland, and very close to the Freeport Outlets, it was clean, spacious, and very pleasant. All interior hallways, which is always a nice touch, especially for women travelling alone. Friendly, pleasant staff.

Spent our last night in Maine at the Casco Bay Inn, since it is not far from the airport, and close to Freeport shopping. It is also close to the Muddy Rudder Restaurant, another big plus. The room was spacious enough, very clean, with comfortable beds, and had good wireless internet connection. The only thing missing was a coffee maker in the room. The Continental breakfast was very basic at best.
I would stay there again, felt it was a good value for the area.

Casco Bay is an older facility in Freeport. It is far enough away from the downtown crowds to keep traffic down, but close enough to be convenient. Our room was a typical motel style room with two queen beds. But it was very clean and relatively quiet. The wireless Internet worked well. The continental breakfast was average. The rate was reasonable. This isn't an outstanding motel, but it met our needs well and we would stay there again.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Casco Bay Inn. Our suite was extremely roomy and well laid out. It was immaculately clean. We were one mile by car to Freeport stores. Plenty of parking and only minutes to drive. Would recommend this hotel highly!!

While we generally agree with most trip advisor postings ( and more often than not, decide to stay at a location because of the reviews), this is our first exception . Perhaps there has been a change in staff since April, but the staff in the breakfast room was the rudest we have experienced since traveling to France several years ago. The breakfast area was 'cleared out' one minute before closing on Sunday and the coffee pot was removed as my husband leaned over to grab an empty cup to fill. He was refused the refill. We will never stay in this hotel again. For the cost of a cup of coffee they have lost our business and I assume others as well. There are too many other nice hotels (within the same price range and closer to town) in Freeport.

Wow--our room was spotless! This was perhaps the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in!

The hotel is easy to find and is just a few minutes away from the downtown area of Freeport.

The rooms aren't fancy, but look fairly nice. We were put in a room by the stairs (no elevators) and could hear everyone walking up and down the stairs...like a small herd of elephants. It didn't wake us up in the middle of the night, though. I would request a room away from the stairs.

They serve a limited continental breakfast--muffins, cereal, bagels, English muffins, coffee, juice...
