“A Desert in MAINE!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Hard to believe, but there it is! And, not even close to the Atlantic! Interesting and fun facts. Best for families with children over the age of seven.

“Amusing Break From The Outlets.”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

When you get tired of shopping at the outlets, take a few minutes and see the desert. It will only take about an hour. It is a tourist trap, but so what. The two ladies who seem to run the place are very friendly. If you have a sense of humor and have some time to kill ( let's face it. Freeport Maine isn't overflowing with tourist attractions) take a shot. You will probably get a laugh out of it.

“Ha ha ha ha NO DESERT here”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

This is one of the funny, crazy tourist traps in Maine. A big pile of sand, the owners throw in "jewels and colored stones" for the kids to find....and it's a waste of money and time......they need a few more truck loads of "desert" here...

“Very unusual”
Reviewed November 15, 2012 via mobile

we didn't know what to expect, a desert in Maine? I am from NV so I had to check this out. Interesting geological history of this area. Nice little Jeep tour with a knowledge guide. Afterwards, you are free to roam the desert and take a few short easy hikes around the area. It can get pretty hot on the sand so be careful. A beautiful area, nice camp ground too

“Intresting Place”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Some what skeptical of a Desert in Maine, But there it was and a very intresting place to visit. The sand is like powered sugar and seems to be pushed up out of nowhere. Very cool place for the family to visit and spend some time.
