If you are looking for a solidly good, locally owned, family style restaurant this is it. Nothing fancy, just good food and friendly wait staff.

We have been driving by this spot for over 12 years and never stopped until today when we saw all the cars! It was cold out and windy so some soup and sandwich was in order. I chose a cup of chili and my chose French onion soup, we both ordered traditional burgers, with cheese, they came with fries or upgrade onion rings. Service was quick, and wow our server asked how we wanted our burgers cooked? My wife's French onion soup was bubbling and crusted cheese on top, she slurped it gone. My chili was well spiced with a good amount of tomatoes and peppers, although the ground beef had the mealy undercooked flour aftertaste. The burgers came, were hot and cooked perfectly! Just as we had asked. Fries were excellent and the proper portion... My wife's onion rings while probably a frozen product were hot and not overly breaded, not worth the upgrade. Tomato, lettuce was the perfect amount although the red onion was somewhat sparse and just pieces, not a slice like the perfectly cooked burger called for. hot coffee and tea rounded out our meal and we opted out of dessert which were homemade because we had an hour or more drive home. Menu is varied, with seafood and meat choices and a very good selection of specials. We will go back. Ignore the fake flowers and decorations, they are at least not dusty, the place is clean, the servers are helpful and courteous. Prices are reflective of the quality of product received. A good value, for more than good food!

To be honest, i have been coming to this location since i was in high school. It was Goodwin's then and had changed a few times since but the overall idea is still the same. Simple foods and a good variety with nice baked goods. I took a tour of the kitchen and its clean and organized. That tells me that the owner cares about quality and food safety.

I usually go here with family and i have had breakfast, which is really pretty tasty, Lunch, chowder and sandwich and dinner, usually liver and onions with pickled beets. This was a place that i used to come with my grandparents and i am glad that its still open if with new management. We used to come here snowmobiling.

Service has always been kind of slow but for the kind of restaurant, its ok. The menu has alot of choices so it takes a few minutes to read through anyway.

If i am going to recommend i would say go for breakfast, the waitstaff are excellent with refilling coffee and taking special orders.
I cant say that i ever had a bad meal. i had some problems with steak temperatures a few times so i stopped ordering steak and went to something else.

We came upon this restaurant after a very long day driving and it the perfect place. Downeast comfort food, for sure... stuffing and pork chops with apple sauce, fried haddock, and the fried shrimp - all were done perfectly, and with sides (pickled beets, a harvest medley of veggies, baked potatoes, cole slaw) to suit everyone's taste. We could not have been happier! Our server (Cindy?) was delightful, attentive, careful, with a wonderful sense of the ironic... we returned the next morning for breakfast and were equally content with the choice... including some of the best coffee I've had in a long time. Don't be fooled by the slightly institutional setting, if you are traveling to or through Farmington, we highly recommend this locale for excellent family fare at very reasonable prices served by outstanding wait staff!

Just popped in for a quick early dinner. Nice large clean dining area, convenient parking and a great wait staff. Homemade fair - soups, haddock and the tallest lemon meringue pie you have ever seen.
