My wife and I take little road trips for rest and relaxation so we just drive till we get tired. Recently it was getting late and we came into Farmington so we inquired at a couple motels and the prices were far beyond a reasonable off season rate. We pulled into the Colonial Valley Motel and were promptly met at the front desk by a very nice lady who was very polite. She allowed us to see the room prior to checking in and we were very pleased. The room was very comfortable and clean. The motel is older but appears to be well mantained. I must add that my wife and I are in Hotel business and can spot issues quite quickly but we will not hesitate to stay at the Colonial again. The prices were very reasonable, so in closing I will say if you need a comfortable/clean room at a fare price check-out the Colonial Valley Motel when in the Farmington area

This room was so old to a point where it was scary. Two towels, no phone, no iron, no hairdryer, duct taped remote, they didn't change the bedding, unadjustable shower head, one packet of shampoo and conditioner, and beds were not that great either.

Was a bad experience for my family.

I stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be a wonderful gem ! It is reasonably priced, very clean, bright, with all the necessities one needs / wants. Closed tv, phone jacks, lots of lamps, radio, clean towels and bedding, well kept and maintained with a wonderful proprietor !

I have traveled around the world and this place is a GREAT deal with it being very close to downtown Farmington, close to places to eat, shop and in the gorgeous setting of the Maine hills and fields. I highly rec. it.

Needed to find a place when we took our son for a college visit, and liked what we saw on the website. When we called to make the reservation, they were VERY cooperative, polite, and helpful. When we got to the hotel, the room was nice. It is somewhat dated, and rough around the edges, but, the overall state was very nice. We got the efficiancy, and it was great. We didn't need any dishes, silverware, nothing. It was all there for us.When I had trouble with the internet, they came and helped us right away. It is not a Best Western, or other chain motel, but the charm, the staff, all made our stay very nice, not to mention the area itsself is beautiful. I definatly would reccomend them to my friends.

Colonial Valley Motel is a 1950's vintage motel located on busy Route 2 in Farmington Maine. It is situated near shopping, downtown Farmington (including U Maine Farmington), and is about 45 minutes from Sugarloaf ski area.

The room was medium sized and quite clean. The style is absolutely vintage; the furniture was a bit worn, but the beds were comfortable and the room included a refrigerator. Our need for a microwave was satisfied by the helpful front desk clerk who let us use the staff's microwave in their front office. And, the price was quite reasonable ($50 range).

The major problem with the Colonial Valley is it needs some soundproofing insulation between the walls. I found it easy to hear our next door neighbors' conversations and for a light sleeper like me, I found it difficult to fall asleep until our chatty neighbors finally turned in.

  • Liked — Inexpensive, near shopping and Sugarloaf
  • Disliked — thin walls
