“Impressive and Unique menu Selections”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

A local recommended The Cellar a new restaurant downtown, we were looking for a drink and a quick bite. We ate here last week and were pleasantly surprised with the menu offerings. Shared a cheese plate and drank some local beers at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the area, the rest of the staff were also talkative and answered a few questions we had. While we didn't get a chance to try any more of the food on this visit, but the menu selection was very creative and sounded delicious and the lunch paninis looked incredible we will definitely be stopping in for lunch before we leave town.

“Amazing food experience”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

Ellsworth has been in need of restaurant whose primary focus is the food for many years. The Cellar provides you with a meal which is exceptionally "palette pleasing". The meal was well worth the price and the restaurant presentation of the food plate was well done. We will return soon. Thank you.

“Great New Restaurant”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

The Cellar is a great new restaurant addition in downtown Ellsworth! Stopped in for date night, I had the sauteed mushroom salad to start and then the duck breast, both were excellent. We were impressed by both their beer and wine selection, the drafts were unique but also included our usual favorites.

We cant wait to go back to try some more of the menu options. Overall the atmosphere was warming and inviting and the menu went above and beyond.
Would definitely recommend for a romantic dinner or even visiting with friends at the bar.

“We loved the new option in Ellsworth”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

We had a delicious early dinner and were just delighted. The Cellar offers flights of wine so we sampled four varieties of reds. The dinner menu, which they offer beginning at 4pm, is a nice mix of small options and entrees. We had oysters on the half shell with a ginger cucumber mignonette and seared scallops to start with, both fabulous. The scallops were perfectly cooked and needed no assistance. The mango strawberry salsa served with them was delicious but didn't necessarily complement the flavor of the scallops. My favorite dish was the andouille sausage soup--spicy and rich. We tried the clams, served in a broth with chorizo and leeks and moscato. This, though flavorful, wasn't our favorite. We shared a pasta dish--fettucine, proscuito, peas, and mushrooms, served with garlic bread--that was great and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The house bread was delicious as well. Our server was gracious and paced the meal for us just right. The long room feels more serene and warmer than when it was Cleonice, which happily is just down the street so Ellsworth gets to have two great restaurants. I didn't see a website or menu online and we were too full to even look at the dessert menu so that's all we can report right now.

“Amazing addition to Ellsworth! Wine & Cheese - Love!”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

I was so happy to see a new restaurant in come into this charming space in downtown Ellsworth! The staff was friendly, knowledgable and helped me pick out the perfect wine to pair with my cheese and meat board - one of my favorite things. I also had a delicious salad that could have been a meal but I decided to splurge for the Filet with a marrow herb butter…melt in your mouth. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items, including the raw bar.
