Great food, service and prices!! We stop here every year while in Acadia! The food is homecooked and huge portions!

Helen's is one of those places with a big menu, so a large group can always find something for everyone. The quality is variable but runs to good home cooking and large helpings. We had a special of hot turkey sandwiches which were made with real freshly roasted turkey and a surprisingly good gravy. Prices for most everything are low. The real reason to go to Helen's is for the pies. My favorite, sadly unavailable this time, is strawberry. It is a massive piece with a really good crust filled with strawberries and whipped cream. It's obviously better during strawberry season, but even out of season, they manage to get the best out of under-ripe berries. This time I had to settle for blueberry, not usually one of my favorites, but this is a superior version with enough lemon juice to pump up the flavor of the berries. We always go here when we are in the area in hopes of getting the strawberry pie, but we are rarely disappointed with the rest of the food.

Started with fabulous onion rings. Light tempura batter, thinly sliced like onion strings. Gobbled those up in no time. Small order was enough for three people. Had very hot, perfectly cooked tender lobster for amazingly low price. Husband had Parmesan encrusted haddock, wonderful combination, hot, flaky thick piece. Cousin had very moist, delicious salmon filet. Service was very friendly, prompt and attentive. Highly recommend!

The food was very good along with the service. We had to backtrack to the restaurant because we were given wrong directions but the food & service were worth it. Didn't have room for dessert

This is the best find we had during our visit to Ellsworth Maine recently. From the clam chowder to the ham steak to the hot ham and cheese sandwichs. The food was very fresh, the service was top notch and the prices were very reasonable. They have some of the best homemade desserts I have ever eaten. The homemade blueberry pie with ice cream, the coconut cream pie and banana split pie was all outstanding. Would definately recommend this restuarant if you are visiting the area.
