The staff was friendly and nice
We didn't have the chowder this time and they are really known for it ,they win a competition every year with it.

“Ummmm Good!”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

We stopped here after reading reviews. Have to say.. we bypassed it twice, but glad we found it. Hubby had the chowder, and broiled haddock, and I had the broiled scallops.... Mine was heavenly, and my husband enjoyed the clam chowder and the haddock. Would recommend this place in a minute. If you are in the area -- stop in. You won't regret it.

“Best Meal in Acadia”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

Staying a week in Acadia, one of the great natural wonders of the world, has one major drawback--there are far too many tourist ripoff restaurants, especially in Bar Harbor. I love BH, but find myself renting a house and cooking most of the time to avoid $200 meals that don't come close to justifying the cost. However, a drive of about 30 minutes takes you to Ellsworth and the Union River Lobster Pot. In a comfortable setting right next to the Union River, the Pot does the classic Maine dinner right---perfectly seasoned and cooked lobsters from the outdoor pots, excellent fish offerings and a good beer and wine selection. The price is very reasonable--for $30, I had a 1.5 lb (not the usual 1 pounder in Bar Harbor) lobster dinner with about a pound of mussels and clams, a side and a cup of chowder. The lobster was perfect, split at request and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter had a very good halibut provencal. Great blueberry pie to finish. Terrific dinner for about half of a comparable (really worse) dinner in Bar Harbor. Well worth the trip.

“Maine Lobster”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

A highlight of our stay in Ellsworth was discovering the Union River, Lobster Pot. The lobster was perfectly and uniquely cooked with local ingredients and was a huge meal. A local micro-brewery beer to accompany it added to the excellence of the meal. Service was cheerful and helpful and prices were very reasonable. There was a pleasant ambience and we received much good advice on how to eat our lobster from locals. A great experience.

“Great service”
Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

Ate here on 8/17/2014. Party of 5 adults. We had 3 lazy lobster dinners, a lobster pot special with a whole lobster, steamers, corn, etc. And a cedar planked Salmon. The waiter did a great job, very attentive. Food was terrific and pretty reasonable at about $150 including tip. Highly recommend.
