Do not go here is you want authentic, simple Irish cooking. I ordered bangers and garlic mash. I got two torpedo shaped, pale pink/beige, 1 inch thick, plastic encased lumps of boiled/steamed vaguely-meatish shapes, served with a mash having at least 50% garlic content!! It was disgusting! By far the worst meal I have ever had in the US!!
My husband had an equally disappointing steak salad.
The 'pub' part looked fine and the service was acceptable, but don't go there for the food because you'll be disappointed.

Food was super greasy and had no flavour. The menu is weak and certainly not IRISH. I live in Eire and this restaurant wouldn't last 5 minutes. I would suggest they go to an Irish pub, in Ireland and hire someone who can cook.

awful! my wife and i came in for dinner and were horrified to see the cook (owner?) running his hands through his hair and scratching at his head while running in and out of the kitchen like a madman. the food itself was awful, my burger was overcooked and the chips were limp and soggy.

Finally a decent place to eat in Ellsworth. The news just got to Lamoine. Just went there for lunch today, and had soup of the day," banger" lunch sandwich and an excellent cheesecake for dessert. The sandwich was good but I think it could use another "banger" on it. Service was also good, only issues I found, tripped on the way in the front door, that one step will get you everytime. Does not take American Express, which they should tell you, and lastly, "Seat yourself sign", just stood there waiting to be seated and finally asked and got an answer.

At the suggestion of "Slugmo" we revisited this restaurant and found things had improved. The beer on tap selection expanded and now includes some interesting craft beer options. The potato crisps are crispy and no longer greasy. Fish sandwich was fresh and the grilled portobella with mozzarella was excellent. On a mid-week afternoon there were many more customers than last time and, from the conversation, it looks like some of them are regulars. We didn't expect to "darken their door again" [as my Irish mother would say] but this revisit changed our mind.
