“Waitress so phenomenal we thought she was Manager”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

On annual vacation with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren (3, 17 months). Went rainy day shopping in Ellsworth and wanted to grab a quick drink. Hesitated since we had the kids. No need! Our waitress was so genuine and friendly, so phenomenal that we asked if she was the manager or owner. She wasn't. Wonderful about accommodating the kids, serving up icy cold drafts (great selection!) in the blink of an eye. We ended up ordering lunch and it was Down Home cooking good. We thought we were just running in for a quick drink but instead came away with a delightful experience - for everyone. Kudos!

“Nice place”
Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

We stopped here one saturday night on our Bar Harbor/Acadia getaway. The hostess was very friendly. The bartender made very good drinks, they were not weak or watered down!!! The crab poppers were fabulous and so was the jalepeño tartar sauce. The Finn's wings were very good. They only downside was they closed early.

“It's an odd place. Looks better on the outside than in.”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

I've been to Ireland and in numerous pubs, and there's nothing Irish about Finn's in Ellsworth. It looks nice from the outside, but is nondescript at best inside. The dining room is really just a plain back room; opt to sit in the hall if you go (seriously). I had a pork loin special, which was excellent. My friend had fish and chips - she said the fish was greasy and the chips were bland.

“Check it out!”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

This place had a cool atmosphere. The interior layout is pretty neat, hard to describe. I think the bar might be inside an old boxcar or something.

The Mac and Cheese is, in fact, delicious. And so were the nachos. And, well, you can't mess up Guinness.

Worth checking out for a meal if you're in Ellsworth.

“Great Mashed Potatoes”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

This place seems to have a loyal following and was crowded the day we wandered in. Hard working waitstaff. Interesting interior. Husband enjoyed the draft beer selection. Food is good, but..... Salad greens nothing special with an okay piece of grilled salmon. Why serve an Irish Banger on a hot dog roll with mashed potatoes? Got it without the roll and enjoyed excellent garlic mashed on the side. Son's grilled cheese and Irish bacon was gobbled up. I would say that the food is serviceable and filling, the atmosphere and beverages fun. A gourmet experience -- probably not.
