The reviews here are spot on! Quaint little motel that makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time. The furnishings are definitely old but are clean and in great shape. Our room was located in the building located to the back left of the office. The windows were open but it still appeared to have been closed up for a while, a bit of a musty smell that cleared up fast. The motel is located close to town so finding food is easy, but everything closes up early so be warned! Coffee is available until 10:00 pm, office closes at 10:00. GREAT Owners who were very helpful offering us to plot out our days adventure.
Oh, if you get hungry, skip Jasper's, the food is horrible and Cold. Head to Finns Irish Pub, we loved it there.

We stayed one night after making phone reservations in advance. Best part of this stay was the help from people running this conveniently located motel. The sweet woman on the phone was very helpful with details and her follow up email confirmation. The front desk staffperson was helpful, very informative, and accomodating. His suggestions for visits in Acadia and local restaurants were excellent. Best lobster we had in Maine was at his recommended Ruth and Wimpy's Restaurant. We also enjoyed his recommendation for Finn's on Main Street, Ellsworth. Schoodic Point was the best part of Acadia, and not crowded, even on the fourth of July week end!

Thanks for commenting on your stay with us.
However we fail to understand why your overall rate was - poor - when you obviously (according to your own words) were rather happy with your stay.
Poor (2 stars), is a rather harsh evaluation, and usually mean that there was something seriously wrong.

Stayed here overnight twice because of the convenient location while camping and traveling in a rainy late September week. Simple, comfortable enough shelter for our needs. We wished it cost less, but needed a place out of the rain and there are few bargains in this area.

The Twilite has the feel of an old-fashioned family run motel: an excellent change of pace from the chains. We have stayed twice and on both occasions the customer service was excellent: this time two minor problems arose but they were quickly, cheerfully, efficiently solved by Chuck.
Rooms at the back are large and more protected from highway sounds during Ellsworth's rush hour. Everything is super clean; beds are comfortable; nice soaps and shampoo and in room coffee. The continental breakfast is fresh and plentiful. All in all, great value for your money in a relatively expensive area. (It is easy to find: head east on routes 1/3 from Ellsworth and look for the sign on your right.)

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are larger and a little more expensive.
