“Great place, good value!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

I stayed for one night in late August 2012 and I can very highly recommend the property. The rooms are very reasonably priced and Greg serves an exquisite breakfast. The home is very tastefully furnished with comfortable and interesting antiques and artwork. It's located a block or two from the main part of town, so it's an easy walk, but very quiet. It's one of the best B and B's I've stayed in anywhere. Greg is a terrific host. Five stars for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at the Kilby House! Our room was lovely, very clean with beautiful furniture. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and Greg was so welcoming! We felt right at home and learned a lot about Eastport and the surrounding area through him. He has a very warm, engaging personality and is very knowledgeable about the area. We will definitely be back!

This was our first stay at Kilby House and we loved being in a historic Eastport home that was true to its period and not overgussied up like some B&Bs that can be downright cloying and cute.
Our room was comfortable, the updated bathroom was tastefully done, no phoney smelling air fresheners, the bane of anyone with allergies. There was in room WiFi which is much appreciated when you hit the lonelier outposts of Coastal Maine where cellphone reception is unpredictable.
The innkeeper makes all the difference in these places. Greg strikes the perfect balance of connecting with the guests, providing tips on local attractions, making reservations when necessary, being a knowledgable repository on Eastport history. The dining room table was a study in elegance and the breakfast was generous and delicious: fluffy eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, a baking powder biscuit and a mound of seasonal fruit, lots of robust coffee, OJ, good jam. All the little details add up at Kilby House. One could spend hours taking in all the beautiful antiques, art, books in this inn. How many living rooms have a baby grand piano and a pipe organ side by side?
Musicians must go bonkers in this house!
I can think of no finer place to stay when in the charming historic seaport of Eastport.

Great stay, clean as a whistle, neat as a pin, and decorated with great attention to detail. Breakfast is well prepared and we enjoyed speaking with the other guests and Greg, the innkeeper. Eastport is extremely interesting and, based on the downtown architecture, was obviously at one time a town of great prosperity and signficance. The herring and sardine fishing industry is now long gone, but the townspeople are putting in a great effort to maintain their community. Each time we visit the buildings look better and there are more restaurants and galleries. Eastport is well positioned to access surrounding nature sites by car or ferry.

As other folks say...Greg is great. If you want a nice clean affordable place to bunk, you cant go wrong. If you want the Ritz...go to Boston. The only dissapointment of my Trip was the State of Maine and City of Eastports utter dissrespect for the preservation of heritage homes.....gorgeous 200 year old homes rotting away and housing pigeons. Ruined my trip.

We found Greg's home to be filled with the most pleasant decor. He welcomed us and gave us invaluable insight into our trip North. He suggested the best places to eat and how best to enjoy our trip up the Coast to Canada. His gourmet breakfast was the best on the trip by far. Eastport was a pleasant clean friendly little Maine town. We would say do not miss Eastport.

The Kilby House was clean and comfortable. Greg prepared the best breakfast ever. We felt like royalty! We even received an short but delightful organ concert. This is where we would stay when we visit again.
