This is an old Maine coast resort. Stayed there in middle of August. The view from our room was fantastic, second floor bay overlook. The bedroom area was recently redone, the entrance hall and bathroom were still stuck in the 70's. People were friendly and room was clean. Pool was warm and clean. Not bad overall, but still not sure it was worth the price.

Room Tip: Get one with a balcony so you can look at the water.

Cozy, Down East deluxe, wonderful accommodations with great beds, spacious rooms, superb low key service, super bathrooms with his 'n' hers sinks, water views, ducks(!) quiet accept for the occasional gulls and bells from the nearby water. The excellent restaurant serves two fine meals a day. The staff cares deeply for the guests and goes the extra mile to make everyone comfortable. No request was unserved. Our suite had cable tv in each room with huge beds and a sense of being in the heart of the best hospitality Maine has to offer.

We would stay no place else. Now our kids are guests on their own as they become adults looking to build their own treasured memories of happy summers spent at our beloved "OPI."

Hope to see you there!

Room Tip: We love "the lodge'

Over Labor Day Weekend, we stayed at Ocean Point Inn and Resort in East Boothbay, ME.
Although I have stayed at Ocean Point Inn over twenty times over the years, the beauty of this area never ceases to amaze.
The Inn itself is quaint and gives a true feeling of older times. We have stayed in the motel and farmhouse facilities. The rooms are clean and adequate. The breakfast and dinner menus offerfirst class dining with awesome views of the ocean right out the windows.

The proximity to Boothbay Harbor, although a short drive is necessary, gives various options for activities including shopping, boat trips, and eating lobster at various venues.
Having traveled extensively, I would take a week at Ocean Point for beauty and relaxation over
most places in the country.

Room Tip: Lodge and farmhouse rooms have beautiful views and are economical.

Plan to arrive an hour early for your dinner reservation. Bring a bottle of wine and appetizers and toast the sunset on the Adirondack chairs that line the shore. Ask for a window table and savor the changing sky at the light fades. The food is good quality country club but the view is magnificent. The dining room and tavern for light fare are open to the public.

In a world of hurry and bustle, we come back year after year to the gentle grace of Ocean Point Inn. As we drive onto the spectacular vistas of Shore Road, I can feel the tensions all melt away. For now, it is just we two and the sea. Pure endless horizon of sparkling ocean dotted with pointed fir islands and flashing lighthouses and the clear white sails of boats and the hum of the working lobster boats. We round the curves, each view more enchanting, until we reach our Inn. The welcome is always personal and heartfelt, the rooms ( we always chose one with a porch overlooking the water)clean and comfortable and recently freshened and updated, the step out onto our balcony worth the long drive to the Boothbay region.

Ducks quack their traditional greeting from the lovely marsh pond behind our room as we step out to take a swim in the large heated pool. Time to relax in the hot tub and read on the loungechairs, but there is a balcony waiting for us to look out at , pier and boats and small island (what would life be like lived there...we dream this every year), an afternoon walk on the Shore Road, stepping out on rocky ledges where Rachel Carson once explored, perhaps an ice cream at the Ocean Point Store, homemade, and back just in time for a wonderful supper at the Inn restaurant, seated by the windows overlooking sunset over the water.

There will be time tomorrow for a visit to the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens and shopping in Boothbay Harbor and lobster rolls at a Robinson's right at sea's edge, and yes, even a boat tour out to sea, but for today we are quite content to savor the gentle joys of a dear and favorite oasis, Ocean Point Inn.

We have been going to OPI (as it is known) for a number of years and we find the place magical. The location is perfect and I always come back from there completely relaxed. The walk on the road leads you past lighthouses, a view of Monhegan island and amazingly for Maine, a sunset. The rooms have been upgraded recently. We were in a room which had new headboard, linen and air conditioner without any increase in price. Their free continental breakfast i(which was added a couple of years ago-again without any increase in price) is adequate but what the heck it is free and for only 7 bucks you can opt in to an all you can eat lavish buffet breakfast. The staff is always helpful and they help make this a stress free environment. My only suggestion for improvement is to crack down on the smokers who although are not smoking in the room, do smoke outside on the common porches and occasionally at the pool area. The management is aware of this and they are trying to cut that down but I guess some of the patrons have been here for literally decades and that habit of a cigarette with the morning coffee may be hard to break.
All in all, a great experience and we will be back.

We spend a few days at Ocean Point every August, always in the same room (no, I won't share my secret!) and I can't imagine a summer without this incredible break! Ocean Point is a short drive from downtown Boothbay - but it's another world, tranquil and quiet. The ocean is at your front door! The rooms have been re-done, and the new decor is lovely, updated, and very soothing.
Looking forward to next summer.
