“We loved our accomadation, a cottage, and the staff from check in to check out”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

We have frequently stayed a various inns all up and down the coast of Maine for 28 years and we keep returning to Ocean Point Inn as the best value for our money. We brought our house guest from England to stay at Ocean Point this trip and she was most pleased. Our cottage was comfortable with a generous closet where all the luggage and our hanging clothes disappeared from view. We appreciated the refrigerator to store cold things for our day trip lunches and the microwave for heating snacks and of course water for tea. We're going back for longer stay next month

Room Tip: Reserve early.

The rooms were very clean, quite, and comfortable. The staff was more then willing to answer questions. While this location is not in the middle of everything it is just a short drive away, keeping this a great location. The price is very reasonable for being on the water.

This was our first stay at this property, although we have vacationed in East Boothbay before. We chose this property for its relaxing, peaceful, oceanfront location.
Check-in was smooth, but the young man at the desk was neither friendly nor welcoming.

We thought the entire property was very clean, and yes, the decor was dated, but it was adequate for our needs. Mattresses quite comfy. Pillows were sort of like hard little lozenges, so bring your own.

We don't come here to watch t.v., so I have no idea what we had in our room- flat screen or not? We did use wi-fi and it was spotty.

Dinner was a very pleasant surprise, although the menu was limited. We recommend the lobster stew and crabcakes in particular. Restaurant staff was very friendly and efficient.
Continental breakfast was included, but we upgraded to the buffet, which featured typical fare.
On checkout, we had to deal with the same young man who had checked us in. It was a strange and almost hostile encounter, and it left a sour flavor over what had been an otherwise satisfactory stay.
He never asked us about our stay, or made any pleasantries at all. All business.

we ended up at this hotel as we found a coupon for it in one of those books you get at State welcome centres. It was near the tip of the east Boothbay peninsula, in a most unspoilt area of lovely views of water, a lighthouse, inlets etc. The property is quitee old and is a mix of a main house, some other houses/cottages and a motel strip. We ended up in the strip and it was fine. A bit dated perhaps but the location was wonderful. Ther were 2 choices of breakfast ( full cooked or not ) with a higher price if you had the cooked. There was a nice dining room for evening meals that I believe had good reports but we didn't eat there as there were lots of other restaurants around

The Ocean Point Inn is in a very beautiful and relaxing setting, but some of the rooms leave much to be desired, and some of the front desk staff are quite nasty.
Our room had no place to hang clothes, and when we complained, we were asked if we wanted our money back, after driving 11 hours. This was the 4th time coming to this place, as it is so lovely. We know it is not a 5 star hotel, as we were told, but I think certain basics should be available. Some rooms have the air conditioner so close to the ceiling, that you have to stand on a chair, to turn it on or off. After having this happen the last time, we requested a room where we could reach the air conditioner. We were given room 15, but no one mentioned there was no place to hang clothes.
The first night we hung our clothes on the thermostat on the wall, sort of rested the hangers on it.
The next morning we were told that not all rooms have a closet rod or hooks, but that was never mentioned. After a big discussion, they agreed to go out to buy a hook, which they attached to the back of the front door.
The 2nd morning, no matter how we tried, we could not open the door to get out, and the front desk sent someone to try. He could not open the door, and had to come in thru the window, to fix the dead bolt, and open the door. At that point he stated that all the dead bolts shoud be removed in all rooms.

Room Tip: Make sure you can have a place to hang your clothes, and an easy access air conditioner, and door lo...

This has to the best location on ocean Pt. I've been coming here for many years it I just love the ocean Pt area. Do not miss the lobster stew. It is the best ever! Full of lobster and what a flavorful broth. Demonic steak was also superb! Only minus is you can't get a cook to order breakfast. I suggest adding a few other things to the buffet. Lox and bagels and better pastries. I'll be back.

This Inn is on the quiet side of Boothbay Harbor and it's a spectacular location with gorgeous views. Our room wasn't fancy, but it was large with sliding doors to a private waterfront porch; and the beds were comfortable. The dining room was lovely and not too expensive for a gourmet experience. We had the continental breakfast (included) which was ample: juice, muffins, cereal, toast, and coffee. Can't wait to go back. We stayed in the Seawinds units which were fine; but might try the Ocean Front Lodge next time which has a slightly better view.

Room Tip: Try to select a room near the road facing the water. The second floor view might be even better tha...
