Loved the atmosphere! Beautiful views from our room & the adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Staff was very hospitable and helpful. No hassles with any part of the check-in or out process. Good value on the Whale watch pkg which included whale watch tix, room, dinner & continental breakfast. Though our room needed some updating, it was clean & comfortable. Must drive a few miles from town to get there, but it is worth the trip. A couple I spoke with there had a much better deal on their room rate by using a roadside magazine offer vs. what we got via the website.

Room Tip: We had one of the smaller inn rooms (#21), which was okay except that the bathroom was especially sm...

We chose OPI based solely on the location; mid-coast Maine, on the water, out of town, and were not disappointed. Beautiful location, well maintained buildings, very nice restaurant (serving breakfast and dinner) on site. We only dined here one night but it was very good; I would have to say they served the best haddock I had in a week in New England. Virtually no traffic on the road between the Inn and the water; no noise and very safe to walk. Spectacular views from most units. Most units have a porch or balcony (some private) on which you can relax overlooking the water. We didn't use the pool, but did get in the water from the float at the end of the community dock across the street. Boothbay Harbor and tourist activities are about a 15 minute drive away.
I was advised that the unit I selected was a little smaller than some others but we found it quite spacious and very comfortable. From check-in to check-out, the staff was friendly and eager to please even when presented with some "unique" requests. We look forward to returning again and again.

Room Tip: Reserve early! There are a number of choices from cabins to motel-like units. Recommend units in th...

Where else can you walk along the ocean on a holiday weekend without getting run over by the visiting hoardes? Ocean Point is remote enough to keep the traffic out, while being close enough to the Boothbay Harbor to keep things interesting. The variations in sights and sounds conspire to cleanse your soul, while the staff and amenities of the Inn serve the rest of you. Do yourself a favor and book a trip (but be discreet - we would really like to keep this place a secret just between us!)

Room Tip: Don't worry too much about what you book - all rooms have ready access to the Adirondack seating...

Excellent breakfast, very pleasant and welcoming, helpful staff, gorgeous views very close to the harbor, but good grief almost nothing has been changed in the rooms for at least fifteen years. Carpet in rooms, sheets have not been purchased in what seems like forever, damp smell in rooms makes you want to leave immediately. Comforter didn't smell good, low ceilings, terrible lighting in rooms. I would give this hotel a solid 4 stars if it went for $40 a night, but the $120+ per night just can't be justified in any way except the amazing location. This location has made the management arrogant about not renovating the rooms. Let me name the things that clearly are very old inside the rooms: the trash cash, an oldish TV, peeling wallpaper, tiles on ceiling, and BEDDING.

WIth a little work and some investment, the management could make this into something great. I don't want to trash this place because the people are charming but take some of the profits and RENOVATE. That's what hotels are supposed to do: ensure that some of the annual profits are re-invested in buying new bedding, wallpaper, and lamps.

The hotel is acceptable if the weather is beautiful, you plan on only sleeping in your room, and you don't really care about cleanliness. STAY ELSEWHERE until the management gets the message and gives this place a much-needed facelift. Also, calling this place a "resort" is just a plain lie, although that didn't affect my overall review.

Hi Globe Trotter,
Thank you for taking the time to review our resort and for your kind comments on our staff, breakfast and fabulous ocean setting. You are correct, our location, staff and restaurant are among our best features. Many of our rooms are dated and this is something we are trying to address as quickly as we can. We do pride ourselves that they are extremely clean, comfortable and efficient.

Major renovations and upkeep are done annually around the property but it is a large oceanfront property (12 separate buildings, 59 guest rooms, pool, and a restaurant) and when roofs and decks need to be replaced these are major expenses the guest never really sees. Our guests also do not see the million dollar sewer system the town required us to install a few years ago so you can flush with pleasure.

In the last 2 years, many of our rooms were given new carpets, bathrooms and flat-screen televisions. All rooms now have Free WiFi access. We agree that our paisley comforters have become a bit dated, but rest assured that linens and blankets are updated considerably more frequently. Our #1 priority in the coming years to continue to upgrade our guestrooms to a standard today's travelers are looking for, we recognize we are not there yet.

We ask and encourage all potential guests to check out our website (www.oceanpointinn.com) and judge for themselves whether the Ocean Point Inn & Resort is a good fit for their style.

Thanks again for your time and we hope to see you back again soon.

This was our 3rd stay at Ocean Point Inn. It's a very relaxing place to stay. Close enough to Boothbay Harbor and other attractions to keep you busy if you want to. We never have enough time to sit in the chairs on the seawall and relax.

If you are looking for the right price for your vacation, and a view to boot, this is a great little get away. The pool was clean although it was not a warm weekend and we did not use it. Close enough to all the little shops yet, out far enough to be able to walk for a long time just soaking in the coastline. We'd come back in a heartbeat

Ocean Point was a beautiful location for a relaxing vacation. The view from our room was amazing..bay and ocean. A little off the beaten path, it provided a lovely sanctuary to relax and enjoy the beautiful coast, yet close to activities and things to do in the area. The staff were gracious and helpful making you feel very welcome. A real treasure. We were too early in the season to experience the restaurant and pool, perhaps next time.
