“Sadly enough, we were disappointed.”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Waited all year to return to bay Haven for dinner. We have eaten here in the past and have even ordered large numbers of their lobster for take out so we were looking forward to returning to Bay Haven. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The wait staff was very attentive and the atmosphere was great however, the meal was not up to their normal standards. My husband ordered the baked lobster tails and when his meal arrived, we thought he had been given the wrong meal. His lobster tails were so tiny that they actually looked like shrimp. The server took the meal back to the kitchen to make sure that it was the correct meal and when she brought it back, she apologized and said that in her opinion, they were extremely small and that she was embarrassed. Half way through our dinner, she brought my husband an extra lobster tail ( a small one but still a lobster tail ) . I ordered the triplet - a lobster dinner with 3 lobsters. They too were very, very small - just about 3 bites per lobster tail. The restaurant was not all that busy so it's not as if they ran out of food. I was taken aback by the difference in the portions compared to meals that we have had there in previous years. Would probably consider giving them a second chance based up past years performance but suffice it to say that we were very disappointed with our meals this go around. Otherwise, the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere, despite being very laid back and relaxed makes for a pleasant meal.

“Tried and True”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

This is such a dependable place! We have be going for years and are never disappointed. I will say the fried seafood options tend to be better/ more consistently good than the baked which are sometimes pretty dried out. Lobster rolls are delicious, chock full, including the lobster salad roll which is not too mayonaise-y. You can also buy fresh fish/lobster here at very reasonable prices. Because the place is so popular, wait time for seating can vary.. on busy weekends, expect to wait for sure.

headed out to Cornish last week, found this restaurant by mistake so we stopped for lunch. Could not believe the amount of food my husband and I got for the price. Food was fantastic, waitress was great, will go again.

“A Restaurant that Sets the Standard for Great Fresh Seafood”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Worth the trip if you want absolutely wonderful seafood, wonderful waitresses and portions meant for a grown man.
We for years have been driving to Bay Haven for great seafood. The place isn't fancy, but the food is to die for and at great prices!! We always go for lunch were they have luncheon specials. My husband will normally order the haddock au gratin. It comes in it's own casserole dish along with a potato of your choice(baked, mashed fries) an order of coleslaw or a fresh garden salad and a home made mini loaf of bread. The cost is 10.95. I normally order the all meat lobster roll which is filled with 3 or so claws and knuckle meat . Yum yum. It comes with melted butter or mayo on the side and chips for $11.95.
They have a full liquor license, a take out patio, a screened in dining room, a covered dining room and a bar. They also sell live lobsters.
You will wait in a line if you go at noon time on the weekends. Dinners will also produce a wait.
Just to at a cherry to the top of this review, The chocolate cream pie is to die for.

“it's all abou the platters”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Bay haven is about big quantities of deep fried seafood of various types...honestly other than that the rest of the food is not always the greatest.....but if your just looking for alot of really good deep fried fish, it's great! My wife and I usually get a fisherman's platter and it's enough for both of us plus leftovers....we also get take out lobster fairly often, and that is really good too....

in the summer expect long lines and a crazed staff...it's just busy! Best bet is to order and eat on the deck...much quicker service!

There are lots of deep fried seafood places in maine, and we've tried a few, but bayhaven has the best.....but like I said, the rest of the food is average at best....
