This is a very casual bar/restaurant that has lots of options on the menu so you can go back several times. It is right on the water so there is a view. We always ate out on the patio which has heaters if it gets cool. Try the chowder because it is great. Prices seemed a little high but they can get it because there isn't a lot of other places to eat. Staff can be rather business like without much friendly chatter but the food is good and comes out hot.

Visited Castine at noon and went to Dennett's for lunch. My wife an I had different experiences. The lobster roll I had was huge. I had to use the fork to remove some of the lobster and have it with the cole slaw. Could hardly hold the sandwich. My wife had the fish and ships and onion rings. She was right - the batter was the same on both the rings and fish and it was tasteless and doughy. She did not finish her meal. Location is great and décor is casual and fun. Food was 50/50.

Cozy on the water in Castine after the crowds were gone. The view from the enclosed deck is grand. Clam chowder was great. So glad we got two cups instead of splitting one like we normally do. Expensive by Texas standards for a burger and caeser salad, but food was good and service was, too. Got out for $43 which included 3 beers.

The food was average but it's the best view in town, partially on a pier over the water. Would eat here again.

I've been going to Dennetts for years. The wait staff are always friendly and seem to be working hard. The food is good most of the time. As with any seasonal restaurant it is often times hard to keep the restaurant fully staffed. The views are great and sitting under the awning or out on the desk is wonderful. I love seeing the boat traffic and the kyakers paddling by. We've taken our grandchildren here and I've found Dennetts is a very family friendly restaurant.
