“Great sail on a beautiful ship!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

We visit Castine each summer, and have been going on cruises on the Guildive with Zander and Kate for each of the 4 years they've been in business here. Every cruise is different, in part, of course, because of the weather. But regardless of the weather, Zander and Kate work hard to ensure that each cruise covers different territory, and is always entertaining. We've crossed part of Penobscot Bay to Isleboro, sailed around Holbrook Island, and have even gone deep into Castine harbor on occasion. The story of the Guildive is still evolving, and the Captains are happy to share all they know about where and by whom the boat was built, and the various owners between then and now. They have also gotten to know Castine quite well, and can recite a lot of it's history, as well as tell you about new galleries and upcoming events. We always look forward to our cruises on the Guildive, and have never been disappointed. At the price charged, it is a bargain to be able to spend time on such a graceful ship, and with two such friendly and knowledgeable people.

“Breathtaking Tour of Penobscot Bay”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

It just doesnt get any better than this! Captain Kana and Captain Parker are both very knowledgeable about the area and willing to share. The boat is beautifully restored and quite comfortable. There's a generous wheelhouse are under which a person can sit & get away from sun or wind if need be. But there's also plenty of fore and aft deck area to relax and take in the fabulous scenery. Only 6 passengers can go on each of the 3-4 cruises daily, so so if you plan to be in the Castine are, don't fail to call early for your choice reservation.

“Don't miss this one!”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

We had a wonderful sail aboard the Guildive with Kate and Zander. The ship is a 1934 motorsail yacht designed by William Hand, Jr. so it's quite historic really and very well taken care of by its captains! We chose the sunset cruise, which was just lovely. It was a warm, very sunny day so we were nearly assured of being able to see a wonderful sunset! We brought our own cooler on board and Kate and Zander provided a sampling of desserts from Dennett's Wharf. (Although sometimes they provided appetizers on the sunset cruise, we got desserts because the cruise didn't leave until 7:30 PM that day.) It was just my husband and me, so we had a very nice time chatting with our captains and learning lots about Castine, Penobscot Bay and Kate and Zander's lives as captains. Don't miss this opportunity! It is quite a cut above your typical sailing trips.

“Season us underway!”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

We have sailed personally with Kate and Zander aboard Guildive on several occasions, but we also always reccommend the Guildive to our Inn guests who are heading on from us in Lincolnville to stay in Castine or even to Bar Harbor. We hope to head up this weekend to go out again and so we were reminded of what a great experinece it is sailing with them. If we get out this weekend it will be our first trip this year now that the season has started but we went on a wonderful cocktail sail with them around this time last year. It was a spectacular evening with amazing puffy clouds that we could see in the distance over the Camden Hills on the other side of Islesboro. (To the West)
Kate and Zander are pro's, and wonderful people, the experience is relaxing and exciting all at the same time!
Cant't wait to go again!

“captains who know the harbor like the back of their hands”
Reviewed September 10, 2011

Captains Kate and Zander are warm and easy with children - letting them help on the boat and gently enforcing safety. We've been out 3 times on the gorgeous Guildive, each one an adventure. This year we saw double rainbows and seals! Sailing on this pretty boat is worth a trip to Castine alone. You can bring your own wine or beer, there's room for six people. Though we are not sailors, sailing on the Guildive makes us feel like we are!
