“Lobster right off the boat!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

5 Minutes from downtown Kennebunkport, Maine away from the craziness of all the tourists you will find the local flavor of the area. Cape Porpoise Chowder House is a no frills, walk up and order your lobster type of place. You buy your fresh lobster by the pound. We all ordered the 1 1/2 pounders and they came with corn on the cob and cole slaw for only $21.99. Your lobster is brought out to you at your table. There is a nice deck with umbrellas to sit on and watch the boats. There's also a nice little walk around the area and the dock is next door where thr lobster boats come in and unload. They will happily ship fresh lobsters for you. Great little place away from the crowds.

“Best Lobster and Clam Rolls at a Reasonable Price”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

This was our first trip to Maine. We wanted to go to the Ramp because of the reviews, but we couldn't get in. Lucky for us! We went to the Cape Pier Chowder House right next door. This place has the best clam rolls and lobster rolls we've ever had, and we're from New England!

The fried clams were sweet and tender with no dark oil or grit, and the batter was fresh and light. They were outstanding! The lobster roll was delicious, large, and at $12.99 less than half the prices of places like David's KPT (where we got a miniscule lobster roll there for $31).

Others in our party of eight ordered the seafood chowder, steamers, the fish sandwich, the fried haddock plate, and the scallop roll. All were delicious.

We loved this place so much we came back the next day! We were treated to more of the same fantastic food.

At times, things just work out! We were so lucky to have found the Chowder House!

Our hope is that you will go to the Chowder House at Cape Porpoise, Maine.
I have no connection to this restaurant, but I want others to get the best value for their money!

Sincerely,

Jane Cappiello

“Good Lobster Stew. Can't get more casual!”
Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

This place is about as casual and plane as you can get. Tiny kitchen puts out lobster and chowders and more. As far from elegant as you will find. It's literally on a working lobsterman pier next to The Ramp (a very nice restaurant). Except for a few laminate tables inside, the dining is carry out or on the deck overlooking Cape Porpoise and all of the anchored working lobster boats. I had lobster stew. Very meaty and well seasoned. Beware that they close at 8pm, and they mean 8pm.

“Best fish and chips and you can't beat the view!”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

We come here at least a few times each summer and CPCH never disappoints! My kids wait all year to have the fish and chips - it the only place where they barely eat the "chips". Sometimes we have the lobster roll or sometimes lobster on a salad. Always fresh and delicious - not fancy. Most people eat outdoors overlooking the pier and cove - there are umbrellas at nearly every picnic table. Also, there is usually a nice breeze so the mosquitos don't bother you. Gorgeous sunsets. CPCH can get very crowded on the weekends, though. - I guess that is a good problem for the owners to have!!
