Owner description: Maine's oldest lighthouse - and one of the most picturesque and most frequently photographed in the U.S. - has been in operation since 1791. Although it is closed to the public, you can stop by the adjacent museum, enjoy the grounds which include a beach, lawns and picnic areas and view boats entering and leaving the harbor.

This is the most photographed lighthouse in the US. There are many angles to take shots and all are spectacular. The view of the North Atlantic is worth the visit itself.

This is a must if you're in Cape Elizabeth or the Greater Portland area. Located in Fort Williams park this is the most photographed Light House in America. Bring a picnic lunch, enjoy the museum/gift shop and enjoy panoramic views of Casco Bay.

The lightlight is nice and located in an interesting location.
Another advantage is that the access is free!
We went there by the car we had rent while in New England otherwise it is difficult to reach (apart from some organised tour).

Loved this light house, commissioned by George Washington. Beautiful area. The weather was cold and blustery but it didn't hamper our experience. Really enjoyed this!
