We can’t tell you how thrilled we were to find the Hawthorn Inn for our wedding in Camden. After countless hours of searching and looking at other venues, we found the Hawthorn. We knew immediately that it was the perfect choice for our elegant and intimate wedding. The location of the inn is phenomenal. Camden is the perfect town for a weekend getaway, which was much enjoyed by our guests. Our guests staying at the Hawthorn were able to walk everywhere – all around the town of Camden, the harbor, and even climb Mt. Batty – without ever having a need to get into their cars. Maryanne and Bill, the innkeepers, have a passion for perfection and the creation of special celebrations. Maryanne worked with us on all of the details of the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. She acted as our wedding planner, finding vendors and organizing everything. Maryanne also creates the entire menu – the choices are locally harvested, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Her helpful suggestions throughout the planning process took so much worry off of our shoulders. When we first met Maryanne, she gave us the perfect vision of our wedding day. We felt confident immediately in working with her and she certainly helped us to create a perfect memory – we felt like we were in a fairy tale. Maryanne, Bill, and staff – thank you for wonderful memories that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. We’ll see you again soon!

The grounds and common areas of the inn are beautiful. The two rooms that I reserved were also decorated tastefully. However, the bed was a big disappointment. It was very uncomfortable and the bed frame groaned with any small movements, such ad rolling over. The shower also was not good- poor water pressure and erratic water temperature. So, with the Hawthorn Inn, beauty is skin deep. If you're only staying a night or two and you are looking for an attractive property, this will do. But if the amenities in your room is more important, I'd think twice.

Having stayed at the Hawthorn Inn several times in the past, I returned this spring to find it even lovelier. Camden is a beautiful town, and the Hawthorn Inn is just close enough--and far enough away from--the bustle. I enjoy hiking and walking, and there are plenty of destinations to choose from. Innkeeper Maryanne Shanahan keeps improving her facility, and her welcome is as warm as ever. Pretty rooms, superb breakfasts, and a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere have been consistent at the Hawthorn. Great Inn!

Every so often, one is lucky enough to stumble upon "a gem." The Hawthorn Inn Bed and Breakfast falls into that category..........and the owner, Maryanne Shanahan, is "a gem" as well. Conveniently located, a short walk to Camden village, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, my sister and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at this charming inn. Breakfast was served on a lovely deck, overlooking their lovely garden. MaryAnne came over to each table to say "good morning" and to let us know what we were going to enjoy for breakfast. "Enjoy" is the key word. Breakfast was absolutely yummy and the table beautifully set. It is a pleasure to recommend the Hawthorn Inn Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a delightful experience.

We traveled to Camden in July to pick up our son from sleep away camp. We selected the Hawthorn Inn based on other TripAdvisor reviews. The reviews are completely accurate. The B&B owners, Maryanne and Bill, did everything to make our eight-day stay as enjoyable as possible. From our initial email correspondences with Maryanne prior to our visit (she helped us plan an itinerary months before our trip), to the delicious morning breakfasts and afternoon snacks, no detail was overlooked. In fact, our children now ask for Maryanne's special cranberry-orange juice every morning at home and my husband cannot stop talking about her brioche blueberry French Toast.

Maryanne and Bill were familiar with nearly every restaurant from Camden to Rockland to points north. (Try Atlantica in Camden -- a place where we had three dinners.) They recommended a lobster shack right on the ocean that was phenomenal. They were even able to recommend a great restaurant in Bath (about 90 minutes from Camden).

Bill and Maryanne helped us modify our plans when we encountered a rainy day -- always considering our children's interests. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the main house which worked well for our family of four (there were two bedrooms and a shared bath). The house is picturesque and represents everything that is Maine. The house is located within walking distance of the harbor and the downtown area which is very convenient. Maryanne and Bill added so much to our Maine experience that this review cannot adequately do justice to their hospitality and the beauty of this inn.

Not only can we say we visited Maine, we made two friends that we look forward to seeing again in the future.

I've stayed at the Hawthorn Inn on four separate visits to Maine, and have found it to be a consistently outstanding value. Within easy walking distance of Camden's center, it's also a perfect location from which to explore the coast's various attractions. The Inn itself is a superbly maintained Victorian estate with balconies and a large garden at the rear that extends almost to the harbor. The rooms I have stayed in are tastefully furnished and very comfortable, immaculately clean and quiet. The owner, Maryanne, is attentive to every request, and she projects a genuine concern for her guests' well-being. She has helped plan excursions, negotiated restaurant and travel reservations, and created the most exceptional gourmet-quality breakfasts I've encountered at any B&B on this continent. On this last point, my fellow guests on every visit have been lavish in their praise of the talent in the kitchen. The Hawthorn is a friendly, welcoming accommodation of the highest quality.
