We took advantage of a Groupon and stayed two nights, with the five course dinner the first night - Mothers Day.

Our room was sumptuously outfitted and very very pleasant and comfortable. Unusally for older prio[perties, there were ample outl;et for phone chargers etc, and the "ghouse" computer renders suerflous ones own laptop. The dinner was not only unique and delicious but served efficiently by super courteous waitstaff. The breakfast was also unique, lavish and prompt.

We highly recommend Hartstone as a rallying point for those exploring the central Maine Coast. We easily visited friends in Bangor and toured Mt Desert Island, with a trip up Cadillac Mt in one day from the Hartstone Inn

We were looking for an inn with cooking classes. This location was recommended by a chef friend. Although no classes were offered on the dates we were going, we decided to stay here and try their food. What a great time we had. They had a weekday special for a suite with dinner for two, wine and chocolates in the room, and breakfast as well, all for $199. The five course dinner was priced at $49 per person off the street, so this special was very well priced.. Weekend prices were higher but not excessively. The inn itself was lovely. The rooms were well appointed. The service was excellent. Additionally, the food is the star event. We had dinner two evenings and they were top notch, worth the trip to Camden. Even the breakfast, with two courses, was excellent. We bought Chef's two cookbooks and are eager to try some of his recipes.

Our children gave us a groupon for a weekend stay. Having never stayed in a B+B before we weren't sure what to expect. Well, it was fabulous. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as were the owners MaryJo and Michael. We stayed in the Toscana room in the front of the house, which was lovely. The food was fabulous and would love to return to take a cooking class. We would definetly recommend this to anyone looking to have a nice quite gettaway with exquisite cusine and wonderful people.

As Bed and Breakfasts go, this is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. We stayed in the Manor Suite. Beautifully appointed in a separate building from the Inn, we enjoyed a gas fireplace, hidden TV, the huge comfortable bed decked out with a NASA memory foam pillow for each side in addition to the other four. The Wi Fi works just like yours at home.

All the amenities were present. From real hand soap to the crock containing the bath salts, to the books and magazines they have thought of everything with a loving attention to detail. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted and conducted to your room. Shown around and left with the keys, we discovered two champagne splits and a plate of chocolates for a pleasant wind down from the trip. Enjoying the beautiful view from the second story windows, you find yourself in an opulent, sophisticated place to simply enjoy.

When you make your way down to breakfast, the staff will inquire which room you are in and make sure the room is tidied before your return. You control the heat, fireplace and you can even open the windows. We had a separate small bedroom that we used for clothes and papers. This room would be suitable for two kids and is separate from the master bedroom. The master bedroom includes a sitting and reading area in front of the fireplace with two chairs you won’t want to get up from.

The staff are wonderful. Mary Jo and Chef Michael do not seasonally lay off staff. When the season slows down, they are given the opportunity to do other work so that they can stay employed. They are confident and friendly. That increased security comes shining through in many ways great and small. This aspect contributes to an overall warm feeling of happy ambiance. As a union steward, this counted very large with me. I have stayed at places where the staff will literally back against the nearest wall and look down when any guest approached. Not at the Hartstone. The atmosphere is one of friendly, busy confidence. They have something very good, they are proud of it and they want you to know that. Everything is genuine, charming and welcoming.

It is easy to lose yourself here in the wonderful environment they are so skilled at creating. As with anything of quality, it goes to the details. The staff are masters of those very details. If you want a rewarding, comfortable getaway with great food, surroundings and hospitality the Hartstone Inn is the place.

Room Tip: Manor Suite has room for kids.

We stayed in the original house, in a front room right above the parlor. Our room was fabulous, with everything we needed: small but very nice bathroom & shower, a small TV, and a very comfortable bed. The room was pretty soundproof, given the happy hour right below us that we could barely hear! Our stay here was delightful, the innkeepers are very responsive to requests and very informative about the area. We spent most of our time outdoors biking & hiking and this was a wonderful room to return to every night.
Breakfasts are gourmet - delicious but extremely buttery. If you have issues with fatty foods, be careful! We had one five course dinner - fixed menu. Again, absolutely off the charts delicious, but not sparing the ream sauces, butter, & cheese... so again, if fatty foods throw you (as they can me), be careful. Overall, we had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The Tuscana room - front corner, 2nd floor, is excellent. Ensuite bath, lots of beautiful windows...

Took my husband for his 60th birthday. The food was amazing, the Rose Hip room was warm and pleasant. The cocktails were amazing. My husband participated in a cooking class while I relaxed in the Jacuzzi tub...The meals were wonderful, and they treated my husband like a birthday king.
I would recommend this place to anyone...

This is our 2nd stay here but our 1st at the main house. First, a bit about the food. The menu is set but if you have an allergy, please tell the person you are booking with. My wife is allergic to scallops, I mentioned it when I was asked about when booking our suite and it was mentioned twice during our stay. Fantastic! They checked and rechecked. Now back to the set menu. The Chef knows whet is in season and what is freshest in the area. Let the Chef cook a wonderous meal and relax! We called ahead and picked the night we would dine with them (we stayed 2 nights). The 5 course meal was delicious, although I first thought the portions were a little small, there are 5 of them. You will NOT go away hungry. The lobster Ravioli was light and had chunks of lobster, the roasted tomato soup was refreshing as was the Maine blueberry sorbet. The main course consisted of steamed carrots and broccoli with pickled beats, smooth mashed potatoes covered with a juicy haddock and two tiger shrimp. Finished off with a lemon poppy seed soufle' and vanilla creme' anglese. I can't say enough about it but this type of dining is not for everyone.

We stayed in the Cottage suite, around the back, quiet and quaint. The suite has a gas fireplace that heats the room with a TV behind the picture on the mantle. THe bathroom is a step down and they have thought of everything, including the mini scissors hanging on a decorated hook for cutting stray threads. The jacuzzi tub was quite roomy but the shower was fantastic!!! Powerful, hot and roomy!! While our king-size bed had a pillow top mattress we just sank into, very nice. Very clean, very bright and comfortable

Breakfast this morning was eggs Benedict on a grilled english and a mango berry juice that was just great, my wife doesn't enjoy eggs but tried them and ate half just the same. Again, if you need to be catered to you might want to rethink, this is a great place to be pampered, let the professionals to the thinking, planning and the cooking, just sit back, savor and enjoy!!!
