“Nice hotel with friendly staff and close to downtown”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Spent only one night here on our drive up the coast of Maine but liked the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again. The room was clean and staff was very helpful. It was during the Windjammer weekend that we were unaware of when we booked the room. The lady at the front desk told us where to park to avoid the crowds and the parking problem down by the waterfront and the back roads to take to get there. Again very helpful. She suggested a small pullout spot for viewing the Curtis Island Lighthouse as we had been talking about lighthouses.

Great pool! Nicely located to take advantage of the charming seaside town, yet in a quiet setting.
Great value for money- clean, spacious and charming. Our family really enjoyed our two days at Cedar Crest.

My friends and I stayed at the Cedar Crest Inn for three days. The property was beautiful, in a great location, and the room is well appointed. I can even attest that the fold-out sofa bed is pretty comfortable. As stated in my friend's review, the pacing that could be heard from the room above us was interminable. We do believe there was mold in our room, despite the manager's response that there were "no notable aromas of any kind".
Also, the restaurant was very nice and I appreciate the chef making lobster eggs benedict at my request.
I want to finish by saying that if a person reviews an establishment based on their experience, the assistant manager should not respond with snarky comments about the cost of the room and suggest staying in a more expensive room or upper level, especially considering these rooms may not have met the reviewer's needs. In this case, considering we'd never stayed there before, we wouldn't know about the inadequate sound-proofing.
With that being said, Cedar Crest is a nice hotel and meets most travelers' needs. However, for future stays I will be checking out Camden's other offerings.

Room Tip: Upper level or back buildings. Lower level sound-proofing is inadequate.

I recently stayed at the Cedar Crest with friends to attend a wedding in Camden. The staff were lovely and the property is well taken care of. The issues that came up were the rooms. You can hear everyone walking above you when staying in the front property rooms bottom floor. We did not get sleep one night because of someone pacing. We dealt with this daily. Also the rooms smell water damaged and possibly this means mold. Our allergies struggled because of this. The rooms were clean but there must be some mold or something causing the wet smell. The back garden is lovely to watch the stars in and you can walk to town if you can take on a half mile walk. The restaurant attached (The Elm) was staffed with lovely people and the chef even made sure to make one of my roomies her lobster benedict for breakfast. Very lovely small town feel!

We appreciate you taking the time to share your comments. The damp smell issue was a challenge during the past few weeks in a very few rooms, with the unusual amount of rain we have had this season. We want everyone to feel comfortable at our property and are sensitive to people with allergies. This is evident in the fact that all of our rooms are non-smoking and our use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, with very little fragrance. We run sump pumps and dehumidifiers in the basements to counteract any dampness that may enter below ground level in our first building. Cedar Crest Inn is very clean and well maintained as you stated. However, each of the three buildings are different. The back building housing twelve, Deluxe rooms, is slightly more expensive, however, is the newest building and may be more suitable for guests with allergies. I have checked the room you occupied during your stay and there are no notable aromas of any kind. As far as the person pacing above you in a guest room, I’d like to suggest staying on the upper level of any hotel building. That would require a few stairs at Cedar Crest Inn, but I myself make that request when making a motel reservation for the very same reason.

We hope you will return and have a much quieter and pleasant stay!

We stayed at Cedar Crest on our way back to Boston. A traditional American Inn that had every thing we needed. Clean, well cared for with a great pool area, a nice restaurant, free wifi and a laundry and ice if you needed it. All the staff were friendly and helpful. A 15 minute walk down the hill took you into the hustle and bustle of Camden, a pretty town and harbour with good restaurants and shops for browsing. We had lunch in Camden but ate at Cedar and the food was lovely. Can highly recommend the scallops, delicious. Also just a few minutes away there was an excellent supermarket which had everything you might need.
It was great to have a window that opened as we are not a fan of air con at night.
All in all we would recommend and would stay again if we get the chance to turn.

Room Tip: Sorry couldn't remove review of fitness centre ( I don't think there was one ) and we didn...

Pulled in and got a 2 queen room. Beds were comfy. Ate at the Elm St Grill next store which was decent. Kids played for a few minutes on the mini playset. Didn't swim. Liked the air conditioner was by the bathroom instead of being by the bed. The toilet hadn't been cleaned. There were severl mosquitos in the room which we had to swat. Obvious someone else did too because there were a few smashed on the ceiling when we got there.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to point out things that you enjoyed about your stay as well as the few items that you did not enjoy about your stay with us. During the summer months, we often have new housekeeping staff in training and if any item is brought to our attention during a guest stay, it is immediately resolved. Management wants guests at any establishment to have the opportunity to let us know if something is not quite right. This offers an opportunity to resolve the issue during a stay, rather than hearing about it after the fact. Guests are asked if their accommodations were satisfactory at each check-out, yet I do not recall the above comments mentioned. I do not believe there is much we could have done to prevent the 2 mosquitoes that made their way into your room. We are adjacent to a non-profit, privately-owned 66-acre park and education center in Camden and Rockport, Maine. It has nature trails and gardens open to the public every day during daylight hours, free of charge and is filled with the most incredible birds, trees, small, wild animals and of course insects.

Stayed one night at this lovely inn and will make this my new go to place in Maine. It is an older motel, but in excellent condition. The rooms have older windows which open to allow the night breeze in, and the style of the rooms remind you of a night at Grammies house. Matelasse bedspreads, lace curtains and blue rose wall paper. Everything is immaculate, I don't believe I have been in a cleaner hotel room. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with a private pool area surrounded by plants and greenery. The onsite restaurant has wonderful home cooking, stacks of blueberry pancakes, carafes of coffee instead of a cup, and a takeout pizza menu with some really innovative combinations. I slept as well here as I do at home, which was a lovely surprise. It was just like going home. Friends stayed at the sister property further down the road, Country Inn and had the same wonderful experience. If you are looking for some really fine down home country hospitality, look no further.
