“Very Nice Place”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We stayed two nights at the Timbercliffe Cottage Inn in the Chauncey Keep Chamber and were very pleased. The well decorated room was large and well supplied with amenities. A sitting area had two wing back chairs in front of the in-room fireplace where we spent our late evenings, reading or having a glass of wine or a cup of tea. Dave and Karen couldn't have been more cordial and Karen's breakfasts were superb. Dave served breakfast wherever we desired including in front of the front porch sofa where we were already having our coffee. There are warm and comfortable common areas for reading and relaxing as well as the lovely outdoor areas. It was like a welcoming home.

There was not a TV mounted in our room. While we were fine without one, that would be the only suggestion for improvement to amenities that we would give.

All in all, it was a lovely experience.

Thank you so much for your kind review. Regarding the option of a television, all the rooms are cable ready and your room specifically has one dedicated that was located in the room, you just needed to mention that you would like to have it connected and that would not have been an issue. Our bed and breakfast is 200 years old and the inn reflects the 18th century period. Bed chambers were not designed for televisions in 1795. In fact many of our guests stay here because of it's charm and prefer not to have the distractions of a television. But on that note, if you make a request for a television when you book we will connect one in your room.

Warmest regards,

Dave and Karen Kallstrand

Our stay at Timbercliffe Cottage was perfect! David and Karen are amazing hosts and have literally thought of everything you might need during your stay, from homemade cookies to local magazines, to fresh mugs of coffee and umbrellas waiting by the door. Karen's breakfast was a treat every morning and kept us full until dinner! The Inn is perfectly located about a half mile from town and a half mile from the state park. You can easily walk to both, while still feeling like you are "away from everything". The rooms are spacious, comfortable and immaculate! You have the feeling of a historic inn, but with all of the modern amenities. David and Karen are extremely helpful in recommending restaurants, helping with reservations, activities, etc. The rates are extremely reasonable for the high quality property and service. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Chauncey Keep Room, which was huge and had a lovely view of the water!

Timbercliffe is conveniently located so that you can walk into downtown Camden and skip the traffic and parking issues, yet it provides wonderful views of the harbor from the front porch, a number of rooms, and a little balcony on the second floor complete with two rocking chairs. Breakfast was large and delicious, and served family style, so that you really got to talk to the other guests. Dave and Karen could not be better hosts.

Room Tip: It costs a bit more for rooms with a view, but it is well worth it.

David and Karen could not have been better hosts. Our room was clean and nicely equipped; the breakfasts were super good. David provided some suggestions for things to do and places to dine. To add to all this, my husband and I mrt two other couples that we enjoyed sharing our breakfast table with. Would love to return at some future date.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jesse Goodman room; not large but with a very spacious bath!

This was our fourth year in row staying at Timbercliffe. It is something we look forward to all year. This time we stayed in the Chauncy Keep Chamber and it was wonderful! It has a beautiful, plush king-sized canopy bed with stunning views of the ocean and a large sitting area with a fireplace. It's hard not to just lay in the bed all day and marvel at the view, but there is so much to do in Camden! The room, as with the entire inn, is spotless and beautifully decorated. We've stayed at B&Bs throughout the US, and you will not find a better B&B in Camden or anywhere else. Dave and Karen are super-friendly and gracious hosts, and we've learned a lot about the area from them. There are yummy cookies or brownies every afternoon and Karen's breakfasts are so good that my wife routinely tries to make them at home. The thought of sitting on their front porch, looking out over Penobscot Bay while enjoying one of Karen's fabulous breakfasts is a calming vision that has carried me through many a challenging workday. We were truly depressed to leave, but we'll be back again next year!

Room Tip: We've stayed in three different rooms over the years and there is not a bad room in the inn. Th...

Loved this place! We had booked one night at this historic home, and extended our stay. Hosts Dave and Karen made us feel very much at home. The Inn is beautifully decorated, and it was a treat to sit on the porch, sip coffee and look out on Penobscot Bay. Our room, The Chauncey Keep Chamber, had a king-sized fourposter bed (complete with wooden steps to help you climb into bed!), a sitting area, fireplace, and a lovely view of the Bay. Karen is a great cook, and breakfast on the porch was thoroughly enjoyable. The food was delicious! Without hesitation, we highly recommend this inn.

Had a lovely stay at the Timbercliffe Cottage Inn this early August. The Inn has been tastefully decorated and cared for by the owners. Both Dave and Karen were very hospitable and more than willing to accomodate our every need. Our room was very comfortable and the porch made for a great breakfast perch. Karen does a wonderful job with the breakfast. Ample omelet featuring fresh seasonal veggies, yogurt and fruit parfait, freshly baked cinnnamon and sugar popovers really started our day off right. I've stayed at other Camden inns and this one was definitely one of our favorites.
