“perfect getaway”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This was the best getaway! Purchased on Living Social and made a weekend of it with my boyfriend. We stayed in the Snow Cottage, it was perfect for the weekend, and had everything we needed. Loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi - bed was incredibly comfortable.. The cottage was conveniently close to downtown and other areas. Kelly was very nice, gave us a quick info session on places to hit while we were in town. We spent one day at the Camden Snow Bowl and enjoyed lots of local eats. We actually spent most of the weekend talking about how great it was and how much we want to go back!

As the title says…for us it couldn’t get any better. What a place. Not a B&B, not a cabin, not a hotel… a little “home”. And that’s exactly what we felt as we crossed the entry way to the Snow Cottage… “At Home”. We could only stay for 2 nights, but oh we’ll be back!

First the let start by saying having a real wood burning fireplace is an amazing thing for us manly-men hahaha. Yes city-slickers, you WILL have to “feed” it; but that’s part of the fun, I promise. They stock your room every day with wood and provide two (2) fire starter logs. It couldn’t get any easier. Relaxing in front of the fire (that you proudly “built” haha) with a beverage of choice was the perfect end of the day.

Now onto the room… We didn’t cook on vaca, but the Snow Cottage is equipped with a kitchenette, kitchen-ware, a wine cooler/fridge, microwave, and kitchen table. Moving aft, we found an incredible bathroom with vaulted ceiling, stand-up shower, and plenty of space. Our bedroom was equipped with a king bed and amazing sheets that feel like you’re sleeping on kittens…(yes, you can buy these – pamphlets in the office!). What’s next to that king bed you ask?!?! A Jacuzzi and that fireplace! Can it get better? No, no it can’t. The whole little “home” has vaulted ceilings and skylights.

What about the staff? Well, again, that couldn’t get any better. Kelly is awesome and so are her dogs; the dogs are “crew” and they’ll promptly say hello as soon as you check in. She knows the area very well and can answer any question you may have; and her food recommendations were greatly appreciated and accurate. The cabins were clean, wood was stocked, beds were nicely made, and everybody was friendly (and funny).

We both got massages from an extremely nice woman (my bad, forgot her name). She came right to room, addressed both of our differing needs, and the price was very reasonable. Pretty nice (and unexpected) service to offer.

Camden and the surrounding areas’ review couldn’t fit here; trust me, there’s something for everyone, the area is beautiful, and you won’t be disappointed.

Where to begin.. I found this place on Living Social and booked a weekend trip to go with my girlfriend. We were driving from Boston so I called to let them know we'd be in later than the checkout time, probably around 9 to which Kelly (amazing!) said that would be fine - she left our check in information, a map to our cottage (Kineo), and the key in the little box outside the main door where you check in. The actual cottages were perfect. Fireplace, gorgeous views, jacuzzi, softest sheets ever (actually bought some from Kelly on our way out!), soft plush robes, comfortable pillows. The kitchenette is stocked with everything you need for basic cooking. We went shopping downtown for wine, cheese, and dinner ingredients and were able to prepare everything we needed to.

Places to go in Camden:
Camden deli - awesome sandwiches, soups, breakfast burritos, GET A CUPCAKE! they are homeade.
Lily, Lupine, and Fern - great selection of wines, cheeses, oils, salami, and flowers. VERY knowledgeable staff.
French & Brawn Marketplace - get their homeade pasta - it's to die for. They have delicious sauces next to it near the deli area.

We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Kelly for the 5 star service!

WOW - my boyfriend and I spent two nights in the Rockwood Cabin, and it was lovely. The kitchen was small but perfect for our needs (we prepped ingredients in advance being the foodies we are), the double-sided fireplace was wonderful (heated up the space in minutes - it was COLD outside), the living room was very comfortable (a love seat with a comfortable cushion), and the view from the porch was incredible. The jacuzzi can be a little testy, but the instructions by the tub are clear and helpful. The bedroom was nice - good, comfortable mattress and nesting pillows. We didn't watch any TV, so I can't really speak to the quality of cable, etc - but we did access WiFi and the signal was great. We spent a short while downtown, which was adorable - the residents were really friendly. I recommend checking out Cappy's - nice spot, and easy to make new friends. All-in-all, we loved the place - we've stayed at a LOT of B&B's (using Groupon, Living Social, etc) and this was by far one of the best deals yet.

Updates since our last visit were much needed - and appreciated. It's not "fancy" by some standards, but it is clean, fresh, well maintained, dog friendly, has beautiful views and a good location. Works perfectly for us.

We bought a Groupon for this place and spent the weekend of the Geminid meteor shower at the Rockwood Cabin. It had a small kitchen with a stove top, microwave, mini-fridge, and fully stocked with cooking and baking utensils. A double-sided fireplace warmed the living room and bedroom at the same time, and there was a jacuzzi. The only problem was that the jacuzzi took forever to fill because the water kept going cold. We sat on the porch overlooking the ocean at 3 in the morning in December and saw some of the most breath-taking meteors falling, amazing. In all, it's a very nice place, but I felt the cabin was missing a homey, rustic feeling that I so craved being up in the mountains.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Rockwood cabin, which, from the pictures online, is definitely the best-looking one...

I'm so happy to read that you had a good time here in your cottage and the timing for the meteor showers was perfect! Also, I'm happy that you were able to snag such a great deal on Living Social.
We've worked really hard to upgrade all the cottages and rooms to a high level for a more luxury feel. Camden has long been established as an upscale Coastal town, as you probably saw. It's not really a mountain cabin type of area but close enough to everything to drive inland and experience the feel that you were looking for. I hope that you will visit us again when you need a Maine Coast fix!

We stayed in the Snow Cabin at the lodge, and it was excellent. Kelly the manager went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we wanted. The cabin was exactly as advertised, and was a perfect layout for us. The location was perfect, just a minute outside of town and right next to Mt. Battie. We will definitely be back again.
