“Rustic but Modern”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We spent four nights at this location just north of downtown Camden. It's called a lodge, but really is a series of duplex buildings which look like old fashioned camp cottages on the outside, including stacks of firewood on the front porch and peeling paint. Inside, however is a modern, clean suite that includes a refrigerator, microwave, 2 burner stove, flat screen TV and an incredibly comfortable queen-size bed. Set on a hillside across from Rt. 1, our front porch provided a beautiful view of the ocean. The location was quiet and private, yet close enough to all attractions, including Mt. Battie State Park practically next door, and downtown Camden only a few minutes away. A nice change from the fancy and more formal Inns in the area

We'd a couple of nights here and found the premises welcoming and relaxed.
Our room, (Islesboro) was fairly comfortable, very tidy. The small private porch with lawn and water views was inviting. All went pretty well and an accommodating, friendly staff were available when necessary. Our room wasn't over the top, I'd say this lodge is on the casual side, like you'd expect in coastal Maine.

We had a cute room with a double bed, two comfy wingback chairs and a balcony looking out over penobscott bay. The room also had a fireplace and a small kitchen. Had a very peacefully two days. My only complaint was a lack of ice cube trays in the refrigerator.

If your more inclined to get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, a quiet option may be to look into "The Lodge At Camden Hills". Our Mount Battie condo style suite was clean, roomy and well equipped, with features including queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and outside deck with views of the ocean. The properties grounds were neat and well manicured. The romantic package option was delivered and presented as promised. If your priorities are more focused about quiet rather than convenience, the lodge delivers an affordable, pleasant option.

I have known the Burgess's for years. I've been to the Lodge with Jim, Jody and Leif for over 20 years. They are wonderful people and the Lodge is gorgeous! Views of the ocean, clean, quite and safe. The price is right, you're supporting a nice family and your staying in one of the most beautiful accommodations in the area! Highly recommended!

The lodge is actually a series of unconnected single and double unit luxury suites situated about a mile from downtown Camden. The staff is excellent, extremely knowledgable about the area and helpful. The suites are excellent...clearly they know what they are doing...very clean, had all the "appointments" you could want. Ours had a living room with a great fireplace and a small kitchen and a private deck that has a nice long view down to Penobscot Bay. The bedroom has a large jacuzzi.... Perfect for a romantic getaway.. Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: we stayed one night in a less expensive room that was not a suite and it also was delightful

I can't say enough about how much we loved it here! The grounds and the view were spectacular. The cottage was clean and beautiful and they really have thought of everything you could want. As many others have mentioned the bedding is so soft and comfortable. The Keurig coffee maker was such a wonderful and unique touch. Knowing ahead of time we brought our favorite pods from home and enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee on the porch each morning. We appreciated being so close to so many great things to do, the location is perfect. We also appreciated how truly dog friendly it was. It's hard to find places that really welcome four-legged children but everyone was great and even provided recommendations for dog-friendly restaurants. We will definitely be back year after year. We did not want to leave!
