“Great Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

So, this weekend was extra special because I asked my girlfriend to marry me and she fortunately said yes. (Our story made the lodge's FB page for,) We had such a great time there though regardless. I higly recommend the romance package if you are going away for a romantic weekend, included is a massage and rose-petal turn-down on the bed . The masseuses were professional and great. The location is perfect as it is just a short drive from downtown Camden, which is lovely and has a number of great restaurants. I understand that the walk is very short as well and you can walk along the water if you were so inclined (Cabins/Rooms look right out to the ocean) but we made it a winter trip so we drove to avoid the cold.

Kelly, the caretaker of the property does a great job of making people feel welcome and the rooms were obviously well-taken care of and very clean. We stayed at the Rockwood Cabin/Room and it was wonderful: small kitchenette, jacuzzi, fireplace, great view. It was awesome.

Go stay here... for real... it rocks.

My girlfriend and i visited the Lodge at Camden Hills for quiet and romantic New Year's Eve get-away. This was absolutely perfect. Kelley, the manager of the Lodges, was very friendly and recommended great restaurants. Check out Fromvandioux... a unbelievable dining experience. We went snowboarding one day at the Camden Snow Bowl - a small mountain about 3 miles away, well-groomed and a foot of fresh powder. Overall, the Lodge was gorgeous, and we had an amazing time together. After 3 nights, we still weren't ready to leave.

Room Tip: The regular rooms have a wonderful view, but the cottages are unbelievable! Tastefully decorated, j...

I surprised my husband this past Christmas with a little get-away to to the Lodge at Camden Hills
for the long New Year's Eve weekend. We both enjoyed our time there immensley!!!! We stayed in the cottage called the "Rockwood". It was perfect for us with a wood burning fireplace and a jacuzzi tub. The view from the living/kitchen area is just superb. It was wonderful to see the sun rise over the harbor in the morning and at night sitting by the fire watching the snow come down couldn't be more perfect. Kelly is such a friendly, helpful manager. We felt like she was an old friend. We definitley will return!!!!!

We stayed two nights in the Snow Cottage, heavenly retreat of solitude and comfort. How I love it when property owners trust their customers with real wood fireplaces! Thank you! Kelly was helpful and sweet.
The beds were ultra-comfortable, and the cottage was comfortably arranged, with enough sitting space for us to each relax for hours. We did move the puffin print, and put the sailboat pic above the fireplace... ;)
Though it was our first visit, we were treated like we'd been there before. What a find!
Small caveat, wifi worked for the laptop, but the I-pad was useless (but who really at needs that when you have a good book and a fireplace?)

Room Tip: We were directed to Snow, but I know we would have been directed the best available if that had not b...

We stayed here because every place in the center of Camden was booked already. The Lodge grounds are nice and the front desk was very friendly and helpful in going over the map of Camden and making suggestions for where to go and where to eat. The rooms are big and clean but outdated. The only modern thing in our room was a small flat screen TV and a Keurig coffee machine. I was actually shocked when I sat down on the mattress - I expect a bit of bounce but it was SO firm! The room decorations were straight out of the 80s. If they could just invest in some upgrades to the room it would be a great little place. (Modern paint colors, new comfy mattresses, new modern lamps, revamp the bathrooms - or at least replace the shower curtains which are straight out of my late grandmother's house.) Oh - if I was in the bathroom when my husband opened the door to the "front porch", the bathroom door would pop open due to the change in air pressure!

The front desk had told us that it was 0.7 miles to walk into town - but we drove down there first and clocked it on our odometer it was 1.4 to the center of the tiny town. So if you're going to walk down there, just know that... And if you walk back in the dark, as the front desk warned us, there are no street lights once you get closer to the Lodge - and it is PITCH BLACK. I actually downloaded that flashlight app on my iPhone as we were out there because I was freaking out over not being able to see other than when a car would drive by and its headlights would light up the road for a second.

I saw in other reviews that apparently there are rooms with upgrades and fireplaces - maybe we had just booked a cheap room? If so, if you're going to stay here, aim for those rooms instead of one without a fireplace!

We appreciate your comments and feedback. We are working hard to update our facility and take everyone's suggestions to heart, but unfortunately, we (and every other hotel) cannot accommodate every guest's taste. The beds are a new Tempurpedic mattress, hence the no bounce, and most people love them. Many guests specifically request them and suggested we continue those throughout every unit. And it's hard to believe that a 32" flat screen is considered "small" these days.

We have and will continue to improve the décor and your Grandma's shower curtain in the standard rooms. We do run the gamut from a basic standard room for the weary traveler to luxury private cottages with fireplaces and Jacuzzis so we are able to offer an array of options for our guests.

Lastly, it is a 7/10 of a mile walk if you follow the sidewalk to the harbor instead of up the hill and around the longer way. But, you are very right about how dark it can get. I will recommend the flashlight app on the phone to our other foot travelers. Great idea!

We enjoyed 2 nights at the lodge in one of the fireplace rooms. Our room was really like a little house. Separate bedroom with a full bath, an efficiency kitchen, and mini living space with TV and fireplace. The rooms would actually be 4 star if the furnishings were of a higher quality and not your typical builder grade vanities, cabinets etcetera, because everything else is great. Flatscreen TV, nice view, very private, clean and roomy. They may keep the furnishings on the basic side because the lodge is very pet friendly. The price was very reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful. I kept forgetting to ask for an additional blanket for our evening by the fire, but everything else was provided including coffee and tea fixings. The lodge is a quick ride from town about 5 minutes and convenient to the other villages in the area.

We recently returned from ME and our annual stay at the Lodge at Camden Hills. We absolutely love the cottages and look forward to the wood burning fireplaces. This year's stay was in the cottage that looks straight to the water...it was spectaular. The sunrises were just beautiful. Can't wait until next Fall.

Room Tip: I don't think that you could go wrong with any one of the cottages. Comfortable and well appoin...
