The ocean was too cold, so our B+B host directed us to the lake. It was pretty crowded (very hot day), but pleasant, and certainly not cold.

Most beautiful and relaxed setting in the area. You can swim, kayak, picnic, hike, or just relax in this undisturbed and meandering lake side picturesque atmosphere. It is worth a day to just enjoy. Take 105 out of Camden and continue until you get to the lake.

On the way, you must stop at Megunticook Market located on the right at #105/Gould St. It is a country market with a custom cut butcher shop that produces THE BEST sandwiches/subs/pizza's/pies/cookies you can buy. Also has a great selection of wine and beer. Do not miss this store!

This lake has lots of islands and coves. It meanders around land that is mostly undisturbed. Most of the camps and houses have been there for many years and are clustered in areas. Although the Megunticook Mountain side gets a lot of motorized boats, the rest of the lake is usually less noisy.
