“Excellent Thai/Asian cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

While visiting rockland and Camden for a getaway from our kiddos and everyday life, we were told Long Grain was a great place to eat. We decided to try it out for lunch, which they serve until 3pm. The restaurant is small so plan accordingly since on a Thursday at 1, we had to wait and when we left at 245, it was still packed. The restaurant was clean with simple decor: most chairs didn't match, but I wasn't there for the decorum. They had a decent beer, wine and Saki menu. The menu was very good. My husband and I ordered the spring rolls, pork dumplings, pad Thai with chicken and pad ke Mao. The spring rolls were very fresh and not fried. The dumplings were awesome and freshly made. The pad Thai was excellent and I loved the hint of cilantro, which was used in the rolls as well. Yum! The pad ke Mao was excellent ss well. The noodles melted in your mouth. Great spice. All of the food was extremely fresh and well presented. The service was quite slow but it didn't bother us since we didn't have our kids with us. I would definitely go back again and if your looking for an alternative to your typical Thai, definitely try it out.

“Best Thai Food in America? You bet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

This tiny restaurant in Camden, ME well deserves its recent review in the NY Times naming it as one of the best Thai restaurants in the COUNTRY. Favorites include the pan fried rice cakes (these are nothing like the Quaker Oats variety), the house made wide noodles, and their dessert (there is only one choice) that's a sticky rice custard with coconut sauce. To die for!

“Hit or miss.”

I've had some great experiences and some just terrible. Service needs work..waiting 15-20mins for a refill of water is a little much. Don't go in close to closing time, the kitchen seems to rush and not care as much about your food.

“Tiny restaurant turns out tastey food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

Not planning in advance, left us wondering whether we would be able to dine at Long Grain, as everything we read said to make reservations well ahead. Well, we planned a last minute trip to Maine and on a whim, called to see if we could garner a lunchtime reservation for four. The gods were with us (and probably the terrible weather, too)as we were told to come right over. Lucky us, as we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The Maine crab fried rice with a sunny side up on top, steamed mussels in a wonderfully flavorful broth, the house curry with beef, the house noodle dish with tofu, and spring rolls were all wonderful. The fragrance in the air as soon as we stepped inside this gem of a tiny restaurant alerted our senses and we were guaranteed a great dining experience. Can't wait to make another trip to Maine (from NJ )so that we can enjoy another meal at this gem of a restaurant.
