“A Diamond in Town”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

We and our neighbors drove to Maine for a extended weekend and I found the The Towne Motel online and we were pleasantly surprised as it is about the cleanest motel we have stayed at. We travel all the time and this little Gem was a pleasant experience, short walking distance to downtown. Great muffins for breakfast. Pricing was fair. We will return.

Thank you so much for your nice review! We're always happy to get great feedback on the cleanliness of the rooms, and we love to pass on the news to our wonderful staff who make it all happen! We are especially flattered to get such a good review from seasoned travelers like you, who have plenty of other lodging to compare us to. It was fun to meet you, and we hope to see you again when your plans take you back to Maine and our great little town!

Our guests often comment that our rooms are immaculate: thank you for noticing! We are very lucky to have an amazing housekeeping staff who take great pride in their work. Glad you enjoyed the zucchini bread and we hope you come back soon.

this is a very nice motel, clean, updated bed and bedding, quiet, seating on the front porch, a screened door (! - very nice), a smallish continental breakfast with good coffee, it is within walking distance of downtown Camden which is a real plus. I wish the new owners a lot of success. My only complaint was that the air conditioner was in an alcove away from the sleeping area and it was hot in the room even though we had the air conditioner running.

We appreciate your good wishes! And we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us--and the screen doors on your room :) Apologies about the air conditioner; did you turn the ceiling fan on? Thank you for letting us know about this issue. We want our guests to be happy and your feedback gives us the opportunity to address any problems.

Very comfortable and just a 2 block walk to the harbor. A 3 block walk to the Saturday morning Farmer's Market behind the Knox Mill, which is where the river goes under the town. And a short trip down the stairs to wonderful blueberry muffins. I had read a few reviews with concerns over Highway 1 noise, but it was not a problem for us. We slept well the 2 nights we stayed. A pleasant stay and a great value.

We spent a night at the Towne Motel in 2001 and were so pleased with the value that we decided to spend two nights there on our way home from Bar Harbor. We were not disappointed. Obviously, this is not a luxury facility, but it is comfortable, spotless, friendly and very conveniently located. Moreover, the blueberry muffins served for breakfast are fabulous. Within its price range, the Towne would rank above excellent, and it is competitive in any price range. We had just spent four nights in Bar Harbor at over $350 per night; we paid $109 per night at Towne and were every bit as comfortable there as in Bar Harbor.

The hotel is in a perfect location, only two blocks from one of the prettiest towns you will see in Maine. The owners are super friendly and helpful and really care about the quality of your stay. The rooms are not fancy or upscale but they are very nicely appointed, very clean and well maintaned. Don't leave without trying Janes zucinni bread.

Room Tip: try to get a room at the end of the motel
