“Dingy, dirty, bad food”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

We had high hopes, but almost left after sitting down. We should have known it was bad as it was 1:00 pm and there was only one other table occupied. The broccoli bites appetizer was nothing more than a frozen appetizer that the grocery store would carry. My husband's Maine shrimp were also most likely prepared and frozen by a food processing company. My lobster was way overcooked and tough. Very sorry we picked this restaurant. Also, it was very expensive for what we got ... About $25 per person.

I am sorry that you were dissatisfied with your visit. We strive to make all of our customers
visits enjoyable. Your characterization of our restaurant as dirty and dingy however must
warrant a response. We take pride in providing a very clean and updated dining experience.
Our Restaurant was completely rebuilt just a few years ago with a 180 degree "wall of
floor to ceiling windows". This allows for a great view of Camden harbor from all of our seats.
It also allows for a very bright and sunny dining room. Our walls are freshly painted and
both our windows and walls and trimmed in light oak woodwork. Combined with tiled
entry and new carpets we are very proud of our restaurants fresh clean atmosphere along
with two of the most scenic dining rooms in Maine.
I am confused that you thought the lobster was tough and overcooked. All our lobsters
are cooked to order and are not overly cooked. Perhaps you are used to cheaper "soft shell" lobsters whose meat is of a different texture. We prepare our fried shrimp to order as we do with all our seafood items. The broccoli bites are the only prepared appetizer that we have on our menu and are well liked by customers.
The price for shrimp is 16 dollars. Hard shell lobster is 20 dollars. These are very
competitive prices and on the low side for this market. I am sorry that your visit was not
as you wished . Most of our customers mention that their dining experience was
excellent the view great and the value they received was very good and that they would
be seeing us again. Paul Prescott owner

“Good place to bring your Grandmother”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

This place is "nostalgic" Is that good or bad? Well, it depends. Looking around, it felt a bit like an old folks home. Not bad, if you are an "old folk" There is nothing wrong with that. They serve very standard fare like white rolls, iceberg lettuce salads, pork chops etc... The clientel all had white hair except for the few that didn't realize it was going to be "that kind of place" The food wasn't bad...the atmosphere was , well, like the clientel. Overalol I would only go if i had to...probably won't have too though.

“Good eating while viewing harbor”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

Food was good, service was excellent. It was a little pricey to us, but may be considered low priced compared to other restaurants in the area. They let us split a platter, which helped. It was plenty enough food for both of us anyway. We didn't even finish.

“Eat here if nothing else is available”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

The food is, well, unmemorable. Same ole, same ole. This restaurant has been here forever and has a good view of the harbor, but that seems to be its best feature. The wait staff is nice. We were there one day when other restaurants (one next door) were packed and we had to eat fast. We were the only ones in the Village Restaurant. That should have told us something right off. I don't know how they stay in business.
