This inn has good water views and a great breakfast porch. Maybe the cabins and newer rooms are comfortable, but the older section badly needs remodeling. Mildew smell. Only one working TV channel. Beds too short for a 5'6" woman. Water damage in the bathroom. The price was good, but I guess you get what you pay for.

My husband and I stayed in cabin number 6 for our anniversary and had a fun weekend, though there were a few minor disappointments. The pros: The High Tide in is located on a gorgeous waterfront property very close to Camden's downtown. There is the most charming sit down breakfast every morning with homemade muffins and popovers. The owner is very sweet, and the place is dog friendly- all great.

The cons: The cabin was a bit dirtier than we expected. We were completely prepared (even excited) for a rustic adventure, but the kitchenette was pretty dirty (there was a pool of water gathering rustily around the leaky faucet) and the bathroom was on the grimy side. The linoleum floor is ancient and peeling up. Dirt has gathered in the corners and the sink/toilet/bathtub did not smell or look freshly cleaned.
We had alerted the staff that we would be arriving late at night and they left us a key taped to the door and told us not to worry about checking in until the morning. We thought that was really nice of the staff, however no one had thought to turn the heat on in anticipation of our arrival and it was really, really cold in the cabin. It took more than an hour to warm up and we were too cold to fall right to sleep.

Also- and this is sort of minor- when making the reservation, I had mentioned that the trip was a gift for my husband to celebrate our first anniversary but the staff didn't say anything when we checked in or do anything special for us :(

I wish it were possible to give 3.5 stars rather than 3.

We chose to stay at small locally owned inns while traveling in Maine. This was a great spot right outside of Camden and near the entrance to the Camden State Park. It offers lovely views of the ocean, and a very friendly staff. Our room was perfect for what we needed. A clean room and comfortable bed. You even get a nice breakfast included with the very reasonable price!

We stayed in a cabin for 2 nights to attend a wedding in Camden. Staff were friendly & welcoming. The cabin was comfy, having the kitchenette was great for us being very early risers- we brought cereal, etc for early bkfast on our own. Then went to the bkfast offerings on the porch. Cabin was clean, small but adequate bathroom. Picture window offered super views of the ocean. We took the short walk on the property to their stairs to their rocky beach. The inn location was quiet and just what we wanted, to be out of the busy village. Would recommend to friends.

My husband, our one year old German Shepherd and I just returned from too short a getaway to Maine. We wanted to stop on the way up to Acadia and chose this inn because we could bring our dog. It was simply lovely. The views are gorgeous and the breakfast was wonderful. The owner, Jo, was so sweet and we feel as if we have made a new friend in Camden. We stayed in two different cottages (one on the way up and one coming home). They both were clean and comfy with plenty of hot water in the shower and comfortable beds. We liked the quiet location of the inn, just far enough away from the village but a short drive. Will absolutely return to this inn next summer and would definitely recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: There are some lovely rooms down the hill by the water that looked newer but don't accomodate dogs. If you are traveling without your four-legged friends, I would recommend those.
