This is one of the places my husband and I go to in the summer. We absolutely love the State Parks in Maine and try to get to one or two each year. We have started taking our grandson to them as well so he can see the beauty that Maine has to offer. I would highly recommend this spot as a destination worth coming to.

Most people coming to Maine want to go to the top of Mt Cadillac in Acadia Park. Acadia is beautiful, but I think the view from Mt Battie in Camden is better than Cadillac. It would seem most travel magazines do ,too, because it is usually the cover shot of a Maine coast story. Just a short drive north out of Camden (a town you should spend some time in) on route one you'll find the entrance to the park. There are campsites and hiking trails but even if you only have a half hour to spend on a road trip, take the Mt Battie road (there is a fee) up to the overlook.
If you are spending time in the Camden area, it is also possible to climb the "mountain" (700 ft) from town. The trail head is a little tricky to find. The hike is about 2 hours each way or you can continue to the top of Mt Megunticook- at around 1300 ft it is the tallest mountain on the mainland of the east coast; Acadia is on an island. The views are breathtaking

One of most beautiful spots and photographic opportunities. The place wasn't too crowded. We recommend traveling in May before Memorial Day.

On our entire 3 week long trip, this was our favorite campground! Campsites were not cramped, the bathhouses were clean, private and well maintained. The park was close to town and the view of the harbor from Mt. Batt was straight from the post cards! On top of all that, there was park-wide free wi-fi. My only regret was we were able to spend only one night in this special place.
