“Excellent Food and Relaxing Setting”
Reviewed February 26, 2009

Chef Michael does a great job preparing a set, fixed price four-course dinner. The souffle deserts are a speciality of his. Everything Michael does is excellent. There is a menu every night, but it is simply there to inform you as to what will be served. (Note: if you have allergies or hate something, a substitute will be prepared if you let them know when you make your reservation).

In the winter, the Hartstone offers their Bistro nights early in the week. The menu offers two choices for each course and the price is "winterized".

If you want a more formal setting (cloth table cloths and more formal service) and excellent food, the Hartstone Inn is your place.

“Maine-iac Vermonters”
Reviewed February 8, 2009

Five couples and a single from Vermont spent two nights at the Inn. What a great trip! We originally thought that the National Tobaggan Races would be the highlight of the trip. The Tobaggan Races were great fun but the highlight of the trip was the Inn itself! We rented four suites and two rooms and each one was fantastic. They were well appointed with amenities that were "over-the-top!" We had plenty of room to party in the suites and we slept in the most comfortable beds ever. This, however, was still not the highlight. The food was sensational. Breakfasts with special fruit juice smoothies each morning and sensational coffee were complimented by perfect eggs benedict. We chose to dine there on Saturday night (reservations are a must!) and found the four course dinner to be a five star event. Additionally, it is within walking distance of town and the exquisite harbor. I'm exhausted but happy! We'll be back.

“Camden, Maine Inn serves a spectacular dinner”
Reviewed February 4, 2009

Chef Michael Salmon is a genius with seafood! The Hartstone Inn's prix fixe dinner last Sunday was fabulous, featuring a creamy pumpkin flan and crabmeat to start, a wonderful soup with crispy proscuitto toast, seared cod in an Asian sauce with rice and vegetables, and ending with a Grand Marnier souffle featuring an appearance by the chef at our table to pour creme Anglaise on each dessert. The food was spectacular, and the lush table setting and decor of the intimate dining area complimented the meal. Excellent service, a great wine list, and our friendly hostess, the chef's wife, Mary Jo, made the evening perfect.

“The best Inn and dining experience in Maine”
Reviewed December 27, 2008

We live in the Portland, Maine area and have been to all the fine inns and highly rated restaurants in Maine and find that The Hartstone Inn is the BEST! We have been returning to the Hartstone because of its consistency, the warm hospitality of the inn keepers Mary Jo and Michael Salmon, the attention to detail in each of the rooms and the over the top dining experience. We love the Hartstone, it is a real jewel in Camden. Jean and Jeff Webster.

As a 21 year old who now lives in Washington DC, I was skeptical about finding a place for dinner in Camden that I would enjoy just as much as my mother. This was my first time at Hartstone Inn, and I was absolutely blown away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was exceptional. I could not have found a better dining experience for myself and my mom in DC. I'll certainly have to come back home to visit more often so that we can try each menu. This is a "must" for anyone in or near Camden!
