We took the Appledore twice last week, and truly can't understand anyone not liking Captain Will...he is the nicest man and takes professional pride in his job and his duty in running this ship. Perhaps the last review was referring to the Capt/Owner who on occasion goes out with the schooner. The elder gent might be a bit of a peacock, and enjoys his on-board bar as much as any other man, but he doesn't handle the helm. He may give some instruction (he does own the ship) but leaves Capt. Will and crew to do what they do best.

Adult $35/Child $25. (Thanks for the child discount...some don't offer this.) We were able to walk up to the Dock and get tickets immediately, peak summer could change this. Don't know where the above address 0 Lily Pond Drive is referring to...the Appledore is at the Camden Wharf.

The Appledore is a larger windjammer, where one can walk about deck without ducking when they 'turn about', and is greatly ballasted with iron weights to keep her stable and safe. We had the great fortune to have beautiful days for both sailing, and would go sailing every day if we come back to Camden. We learned we truly loved being out on the water with sun and salty sea breeze with every breath. We were so grateful for such beautiful days, and such great crew!

{As alternates to get our sea 'fix', we took the Ferry to Vinylhaven (ask for "Excursion Fare" $10/adult $5/child, which saves $7.50/adult.) And...if you don't park your vehicle in the ferry parking lot for $10 , but instead park in free municipal parking and walk a little farther...you've save $25...which in turn, you can use for the next Schooner Trip!!}

We understand the Appledore winters down in Key West. I'd be totally thrilled to make a trip to Florida Keys, just to sail her again. ..or maybe another trip to Maine would be outstanding. Hope Capt Will is there!!

Rest of the crew was pleasant. After 13 years the captain should retire instead of being a douchebarge.

Sailing on the Appledore is like going back in time to sail they way our ancestors did it. We had a beautiful 2 hour sail in Penobscott bay. I would recommend warm clothing even on a hot day. The wind can be chilly.

July 3rd 2011 my wife and I treated ourselves to a sunset cruise on the Appledore II. The winds were great, crew was outstanding and the scenery fantastic. Even the weather cooperated. Sunset that evening made the experience all that much more memorable.

There are multiple Windjammers to choose from in the Camden Harbor, this one was one of the larger ones and my friend who has difficulty walking wanted one that she could easily get into. The crew helped greatly and made this experience memorable for us both. The crew were highly personable and professional. Drinks were offered as soon as we got out of the harbor. I had a very spicy bloody mary, YUM at a reasonable cost. We sailed out into the Penobscot Bay past all the sailboats and out to a couple larger islands. We saw lots of birds, commorants, ducks, harbor seals and even a porpoise. Wow! We sailed in the late afternoon and saw the most amazing sunset with a fullmoon coming up afterwards. A sight and sail that was wonderful. I liked how the crew engaged the guests in conversation and also worked the ships sails. A really wonderful experience.
