“Pleasant and convenient Fairfield Suites, Brunswick,Me.”
Reviewed July 21, 2007

We stayed at this modern hotel, on Maine Street/Route 1 in Brunswick but on the quiet portion of that route that becomes busier 1-mile North of the hotel. We were enroute from Bar Harbor to Boston and this was a convenient stop, about 3 1/2 hours south of BH. The hotel is modern, up to date, the staff is very personable and knowledgeable, and the rooms and common areas are well maintained. Our suite on the third floor facing the rear of the hotel and Maine Street about 200 feet distant, was quiet, spacious, was furnished with a comfortable sitting chair, desk chair for wi fi access, lcd hdtv, and small fridge. The single bank of elevators worked well for a full hotel of this size. Breakfeast is included in the rate and includes eggs, bacon, fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, waffles, coffee, etc. We found the hotel very convenient for exploring the several small peninusals adjacent to the Bath/Brunswick, area, including the Georgetown peninsula. Brunswick is the home of Bowdoin College and during the summer there are numerous musical events and plays available,. There also are several decent resonably priced restaurants, particularly near the university campus, including a small spanish/mexican restaurant and an italian restaurant both of which are next to Cotes ice cream, also worth the stop.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel!

Speaking of being up-to-date, you will be pleased to learn that in March of 2012 we underwent a complete renovation and reinvention of our entire hotel! Our rooms and public spaces have been updated to include new carpet, tile, wallpaper, furniture, lighting, and equipment. We offer the same great service, but with an updated new look! We are thrilled that we are able to always keep our hotel refreshed for folks like you who appreciate a well-cared-for and updated decor.

Thank you again and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you again soon!

I agree with everything that the previous reviewers have written. I had a room facing the front of the hotel, so I never heard any road noise.

I work in the travel industry and inspect about 20-30 hotels a year on behalf of groups that I send to Europe. Plus I make sales calls in various parts of the USA. So I frequently stay in hotels, from budget to deluxe.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We had just spent 3 nights at a luxury B&B in Camden (a wonderful town on the coast), so it was a different experience. Of course the Fairfield Inn's breakfast (waffles and cereal, basically) couldn't compete with the B&B. But the room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and up-to-date.

The front desk staff were very friendly and gave helpful information (including printed directions) to local attractions.

A few days before this visit, we spent 3 nights in a Bowdoin dorm for reunion. After experiencing the Fairfield Inn we will skip the dorm next time!

  • Liked — Spotlessly clean rooms, attractive lobby, friendly and helpful staff
  • Disliked — Road noise (only a factor for rooms facing the rear of the hotel)

This Fairfield Inn is beautiful and also relatively new. It is a great location, being 10 minutes from Freeport and 25 minutes to Portland. It is easy to find, and Brunswick, a very nice town, is just a short drive away.

The staff was very attentive and the daily breakfast ,which is included, was great.

I stayed here on business for 2 nights, but would surely visit with my family next time we visit Maine.

  • Liked — Location, large rooms, nice staff
  • Disliked — The room rate was higher than I expected.

Will echo what's written by previous users. The property retains a great, new feel and was spotlessly clean. Standard rooms are smaller than average, but bathroom was comparitively large and well laid out.

Had to change room as our first was adjacent to the vending machines which had a loud fan system in the ceiling above them - proximity to vending doesn't normally bother us but this was too much.

Breakfast is the usual low-end Fairfield affair, but there is an excellent diner just a mile away north along Rte.1 (on the right-hand-side before you get to Brunswick) where you can eat well for not much at all.

Handy location, just off the I-295 connector - easy access to Brunswick, Freeport and the Maine Coast.

  • Liked — Clean, new and fresh-feel to property.
  • Disliked — Poor breakfast (standard to this chain)
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for rooms away from the vending machines and facing away from I-295 connector.

We booked our room at the last minute due to a change in travel plans. It was unusual that the rooms have double (not queen) beds. However, this hotel is just about brand new, and everything is spotless! We had an extended double, which meant there was a separate little sitting area with a second TV set. Very nice! The front desk person was extremely helpful and courteous, and glad to recommend restaurants in the area. This hotel is extremely close to Bowdoin College, and we couldn't have been happier with the whole experience!

This is a very nice and new Fairfield Inn and Suites Property. Not only was it very clean and spacious but the front desk clerk was most helpful and friendly with local dining advice and travel advice. I would definitley recommend this property and would stay again. It is conveniently located off of the interstate and is only about 6 miles from Freeport and the LL Bean outlet. The continental breakfast was very nice and even had the make your own waffles. They even had a blueberry flavored coffee choice (Yum!)

My wife and I and our three kids stayed one night recently during a road trip at the Fairfield in Brunswick. We booked a studio suite on the Internet for $179. This seemed to be the regular rate and no discount was available. I'm very tempted to dock the review to 4 out of 5 for that, but we were pretty happy, so I will leave it at 5.

The studio suite was roomy with two doubles in one room, and a sofabed in the other. The room was clean, and the staff friendly and helpful with extra pillows, dinner suggestions and directions. Speaking of directions, you need them in order to get back to the hotel if you venture into Brunswick. Due to one way streets and such, it is not completely obvious how to get back.

I had requested a rollaway cot when I booked, and it was already in the room when we arrived.

The pool was small, but there was a nice hot tub as well, and the kids enjoyed both. We didn't go in the exercise room, which was next to the pool area.

The free breakfast was surpisingly good for continental. They had self serve waffle makers which worked very well and were a hit with the kids. And they had lots of coffee, juices, breads, muffins, cereal, yogurt, etc.

After breakfast we asked how to get to Freeport, and they provided directions (very easy, turn right out of the hotel and drive for just a few miles) and a pamphlet. [ One suggestion if you are going into Freeport: Get there before 9am. We got there around 9am and thought Freeport seemed like a cute, quiet little shopping town. We parked in one of the many available choice spots right behind L. L. Bean. About two hours later, the town was very bustling, with no spots to be found anymore. ]
